Course Description:
This course covers the history of Tutuila and Manua (American Samoa) from the 1700s to the present. The course
emphasizes on political, social, economic, and religious developments that altered traditional Samoan institutions and
created modern Samoan societies.
Textbook:
Sunia, Fofo. 2008. The History of American Samoa. Amerika Samoa Humanities Council.
Materials:
One 1B5 Notebook, Pens (Black/Blue Ink only) and One whiteout pen
Note: Any additional materials will be announced or handed out as needed.

Student Expectations:
Pay Attention, Know his/her role as a student in terms of being #POLITE, Do the assign work and #PASS the class!
Evaluations:
Participation, Asking/Answering questions, Writings/Reflections, Assignments, Exams and Quizzes (Turn in course
notebooks on Exam and Quiz days, No notebook automatic Zero).
Classroom Rules:
In addition to Tafuna High Schools rules and regulations, students are expected to act by the following.
1. Come prepared everyday!
2. Follow Instructions the first time there given!
3. Students are expected to arrive in class on time, and remain in class until dismissed. *Three tardies will
constitute to an absent.
4. Respect everyone and everything. (If the instructor cannot put up with the students attitude he/she will be
remove and change course schedule to another instructor instead or grades will be negatively affected).
5. Eating and drinking in the classroom are not allowed.
6. No littering or vandalism in the classroom.
7. Refrain from walking in and out of the classroom. *Always necessary to ask permission.
8. Turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices. Remove hats, hoods, sunglasses earphones, etc.
(Consequences specifically base on instructors discretion)
9. All papers are due on the date they are announced to be turn in. There will be NO extensions granted for any
assignments. NO make-up class work, etc., missed and late work will NOT be accepted!
10. Plagiarism is Strictly Prohibited for any assignments, etc., if caught consequences will be a Zero.
*Students who refuse to act by the classroom policies are subject to the following consequences:
1) Remind/Warn
2) Detention (Instructors discretion)
3) Automatic minus 50 points
4) Instructor and student meet one-on-one
5) Referral to the office and contact parents
(By appointment only)
*Fail to show for #s 2 and 4, AUTOMATIC MINUS 50 points.
