INTRODUCTION
Mr. Andy Mallari started a small shop of transistor radios in 1979. The demand for electronic parts made him carry a
wide assortment of parts that are used in the assembly and maintenance of radios, tape recorders, amplifiers and various related
appliances. In 1990, he constructed a two-storey building in a new street, used as his shop in the ground floor and as his
residence in the second floor. His shop sales made to customers grew in number month after month. He thinks that he can open
up another in the other big towns.
Mr. Mallaris perspective changed drastically after meeting his former classmate, Estelito Chan. Mr. Chan has a wellestablished appliances assembly plant. He stated that he started out as a subcontractor for a large assembly plant, until he was
able to establish his own assembly plant.
Mr. Mallari thinks that he can follow his friends footsteps. His oldest child is about to enter college and considers of
sending his son to an engineering school. He feels that his children will accept any career he ask them. He thinks his three sons
have the potential to realize his dream of establishing his own assembly plant. His immediate concern now is to identify the right
college courses for his children.
Choosing his childrens future is a big factor which will affect his business in the near future. Planning their career
earlier is a good consideration to achieve future goals. And choosing the right career will greatly affect the status of the plan.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This case study aims to address the concern of Mr. Mallari of giving the right careers of his three children to be taken
up in the near future, to be able to succeed him in establishing his own assembly plant.
Particularly, this study aims to answer the following questions:
1.

What engineering course will his first son take?

2.

What career course will his second son take?

3.

What career course will his third son take?

SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths
What Mr. Mallari have is an electronic shop. At present, it is clearly very progressive specially because most of the
gadgets today are made of electronic materials such as radios, phones, computers, etc. as well as other appliances being
digitally programmable. Continuing his electronic shop into an assembly plant is a good consideration. The shop will also give
more work for the people. Keeping low costs of electronic parts compare to other competitors.
Weaknesses
The establishment of his own assembly plant will require him a large amount of capital money in order to fulfill it.
Single-handedly managing the large business will be difficult to handle. Aside from the difficulty in handling more people,
problems from machineries, finance, etc, will arise.
Opportunities
Partnership with other companies and shops are to be expected because of the large demand of electronic materials to
be able to produce more gadgets for the costumers. Loyal customers are bound to buy more product from the plant and are likely
to recommend to other customers.
Threats
Existing large assembly plants are likely to compete and their products may cost less due to having an established
name.

CONCLUSION
Suggesting his first son to take up Electronics Engineering will help in improving the assembly plant specially in
following the trend of electronic innovations. Also to take advantage of understanding the suitable specifications needed to aide
customers without direct understanding of the electronic parts, such as consultations.
Suggesting his other sons to take up Mechanical Engineering and Accountancy will greatly improve the status of the
business. The Accountant son will supervise the financial management of the business. While the Mechanical Engineer son will

manage the governing mechanical machineries of the assembly plant needed to improve production and quality of the electronic
parts.
