Handog Pamasko...
Napoleon Sanchez Dy at Mayor Ian Paul Laguatan-Dy.

Palace: Duterte orders all mayors

nationwide to go to Malacaang
PRESIDENT Rodrigo
Duterte
summoned
mayors from all over
the country to appear in
Malacaang
on
Wednesday, a Palace
official said on Tuesday.
All mayors have
been invited], the official told SunStar when
asked to confirm if all
mayors have been asked
to go to Malacaang on
Wednesday.
He, however, refused to provide further
details when pressed
further if the invitation
to them was developed

following the Presidents

remark that his next move
on his anti-drug efforts
was to have a one-on-one
meeting with the mayors
and let them look for
themselves if they are included in the drug list.
In a speech delivered
at the Palace on Monday,
Duterte revealed his plan
to have an executive
meeting with the mayors
to show them his thick
drug list.
Duterte said he would
not hesitate to kill them,
if he is able to prove that
they are connected to illegal drug sale.

I will call the mayor,

lock them in. It will only
be us and I will really tell
them, You know, I have
a thick [drug list], find
your name, mayor. Son of
a b****, if your name is
there, you have a problem, I will really kill
you, Duterte said.
Either you resign or
make a clean breast of everything, come up with a
clean nose and well
talk... I tell you, do not
fool me. I will deprive
you of the supervisory
powers over the police.
Second, I will get rid of
your security, he added.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella

said Dutertes pronouncement against the mayors
linked to drugs was
merely his messaging
style to underline his intentions.
Again, it is to say
matter of the leadership
style and messaging style
of the President. However, its just meant to underline his seriousness in
making sure that nobody
is corrupt and involved in
criminalities, the presidential spokesperson said
in a chance interview.

There is more to be learned and there is a need for a more comprehensive plan on disaster management,
Mamba said.
He said the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),
Department of Environment and Natural Resources and other private agencies are helping the provincial government

Inabot ng mahigit sa 4

sina Moreno at Apolo na
halinhanang tinanong kung
bakit saksakan ng bagal sa
road re-blocking at palpak
na maintenance na sakup
ng 4th Engineering District
sa Isabela.

DE MORENO IN HOT SEAT AND IN TROUBLE: Hindi pinaporma ng mayoryang

Karen Abuan at BM Abigail
board. Valley Hot News lensman, jgd

Ayon kay Moreno,

natengga ng matagal ang

ang unahang gulong ng

sa
sumabog
ang
mugwheels at gulong sa
unang saldak sa medyo
malalim na winasak na
kalsada.
Kaya nga po your

ang kalahating section ng
national road eh wala pong
budget eh baka naman
kami kuwestyunin ng ating
ahensya at ng COA at
nitong 2017 na lang
naisama sa funding kaya
ngayong taon masisimulan
ang
construction,
paliwanag ni DE Moreno
sa public hearing sa
kapitolyo.
Ginawa ni Moreno
ang paliwanag matapos
tanungin siya nina Atty.
Abuan at BM Tugade kung
bakit sila nagkamali ng
sukat at section na
gagalawin, hindi sana
nagkaroon ng trahedya na
ikinamatay ng ilang motorist kabilang si Mayor
Bernardo.
Tanong ni Abuan kay
Moreno bakit pinabakbak
pa ng DPWH sa private
contractor na si Palomo

kung wala naman palang

pondo ng sa ganoon hindi
iniwan ng matagal na
nakatiwangwang.
Sana
kung
pinabakbak na ng DPWH
sana itinuloy tuloy na ni
Mr. Palomo, kasalanan
niya eh kaysa marami pang
magaganap na sakuna tulad
ng madugong aksidente ni
Mayor Bernardo sabi ni
Atty. Abuan.
Tampok sa Inquiry
ang iba pang bahagi ng
kontrata sa bahagi ng
Kapirpiriwan, Cordon,
Isabela hanggang sa tapat
ng INC chapel na saksakan
ng bagal na tapusin ang
ilan pang private contractor ng 4th ED Isabela.
May napabalita ding
dalawang mag-asawa ang
nasawi sa kasagsagan ng
konstruksyon
na
sinasabing kasalanan din
ng isang contractor na
walang maayos na warning
signs para bigyan ng
babala ang mga motorista.
Ayon sa mayorya ng
Sangguniang Panlalawigan
posibleng ituloy nila ang
million pisong damages at
criminal liabilities laban sa
mga tag DPWH at kasunod
na sasampahan ng kaso ang
pribadong kontratista para
panagutin ang dapat

managot sa pagkamatay ni
Mayor Bernardo.
Kung matatandaan,
patay na ng ilabas ng
rumespondeng Rescue ng
Santiago City sa loob ng
SUV na sinasakyan ni
Bernardo kasama ang tatlo
pang iba. Tanging ang
alkalde ng Palanan ang
binawian ng buhay habang
ang tatlong kasama sa
biyahe ay mabilis na
nakaligtas.
Tumayong acting vice
governor at presiding officer si BM Faustino
Dondon Dy at maging ang
board member ay pinatikim
din ang nasa hot seat ng
malinaw na katanungan
kung bakit saksakan ng
bagal ang constructions sa
4th Engineering District ng
Isabela kumpara sa iba
pang DPWH Engineering.
Tinawag na The
Longest Road in the Philippines ang kahabaan ng
Cordon to Santiago City na
inabot na umano ng halos
limang taon at hindi pa rin
natatapos hanggang sa
ngayon. Giba, gawa
bakbak-gawa ang madalas
mapansin ng mga motorist
na madalas ding mapansin
na usad pagong at daloy ng
trapiko. Valley Hot News/

ALU lauds duterte for approval of SSS pension

hike; urges SSS to cut fat bonuses to improve fund
LABOR group Associated Labor Unions (ALU) lauded President Rodrigo Duterte for approving the other day a one
thousand peso increase of pension for 2.3 million pensioners of Social Security System (SSS).
We thank President Duterte for listening to the needs of pensioners. We welcome this as it is an answer to the
promise he made to pensioners during the campaign. It will help pensioners to cope with some but not all of the burdens
caused by rising prices of basic commodities and cost of services, ALU spokesperson Alan Tanjusay said.
However, the ALU argued that the government should have fixed the system first and institute reforms within SSS
before requiring new contributions from 14 million paying members out of the 34 million registered members.
Tanjusay said they urge SSS management to institute reforms within the system by trimming down excessive
bonuses and introduce reasonable perks to all its top executives, improve its collection efficiency by pinning down nonremitting employers, stop corruption within and act on 7,000 delinquent employers now pending in the courts.
There would be significant improvement in the life fund of SSS if these reforms are enforced. Resorting to
quick fix and the path of least resistance raises doubts about ability of SSS commisisoners ability to trim corporate
fat. We suggest that President Duterte to direct the SSS open their books and consult with workers since its workers
moneythat the SSS is doing placements on, Tanjusay said.
He said the workers daily wage purchasing power is reduced by at least 30% in the face of prices of basic
commodities and cost of services. There are also impending bigtime increases in the cost of electricity and water
utilities.

Let the yellows dream big

A SOURCE of complete frustration for Rodrigo Dutertes
detractors is his persistently high ratings and his seeming
resilience against the worst attack on him.
A supposed plot to oust him should have been in full bloom
at this time but it seems that Duterte only has to contend with
noises, which do not even echo since these are being denied by
those undertaking it to save their necks.
Vice President Leni
Robredo, who is being
groomed as a rallying figure
in the ouster bid, does not
seem to have the stomach for the intrigues that go with scheming
and plotting and is somewhat backing off.
Surveys released recently showed that Duterte continues to
reap above average ratings on his performance and public
confidence in the latest Pulse Asia survey.
The survey showed an 83 percent performance satisfaction
on Duterte against 62 percent on Leni while the difference in
the trust rating of both was wider at 83 percent for Duterte and
a mere 58 percent for Leni.
Some analysts interpreted the drop in Lenis numbers as the
result of her losing a Cabinet post which does not entirely reflect
in the survey results since her performance rating fell only four
points compared with the seven points slide in her trust rating.
In comparison, Dutertes performance and trust rating were
at an even 83 percent.
Leni appears to be sliding into having a confidence problem
with the public amid suspicions of her involvement in the ouster
movement.
Duterte is being assailed mainly in foreign media either for
carrying out or inspiring EJK.
The latest survey, curiously, included among the issues
supposedly confronting Duterte is the recovery of the hidden
wealth of former President Ferdinand Marcos which not even
the late former President Cory Aquino nor her son Noynoy has
achieved progress on this issue.
The issue was raised anew apparently in relation to the
burial of Marcos which infuriated the yellow mob and the socalled civil society.
The political trend, however, proves opposite to what the
yellow mob would have desired.
The supposed oust Duterte campaign should rightly be
shrugged off as its success exists only in the imaginary yellow
world.

Overacting Leila
THERE Leila goes with her
overdone dramatics, saying that if
ever something happens to her,
only President Rodrigo Duterte is
to be blame.
And why does she say that? As
she claimed, Leila noted that the
veiled threat came when Rody
mentioned her name in passing.
All of his statements related

to killings are already disturbing

to me. But this is doubly
disturbing to me personally. I take
it as a veiled threat. Why, all of a
sudden will he mention my name
when he talks about killings? she
asked.
So logically, I am included
among their targets. So Im taking
this seriously, de Lima added.

SSS dagdag-pensiyon ay isyu na napolitika

KAPAG nanliligaw, lahat ay
ipinapangako. Yan ang
leksiyon kina President
Rodrigo Duterte at dalawang
milyong pensiyonado ng
SSS.
Noong kumakandidato si
Duterte, ipinangako niya sa
mga retirado ang across-theboard increase na P2,000 sa
kanilang buwanang katiting
nag-veto
ng
ipinasang
panukala ng Kongreso na
P2,000-increase. Babala ni
Aquino noon na iikli ang
fund life ng SSS hanggang
2019 lang, imbis na 2042pahaba. Lugi dito ang 31
milyong nagta-trabaho pang
miyembro; wala na silang
tatanggaping pensiyon sa
pagretiro makalipas ang 13
taon, aniya. Pero sinagot siya
ni Duterte: Labintatlong
taon
pa
yan,
mapapaghandaan. Inulit ni
Duterte ang pa-ngakong
dagdag-pensiyon
nung
sumumpa nung June 30.
Nung Disyembre naglaan
ang mga bagong talaga ni
Duterte na pinuno ng SSS ng
P48 bilyon para sa unang-

taon ng dagdag-pensiyon.
Inawat sila ng pinakamatataas
na
economic
secretaries ni Duterte sina
Sonny
Dominguez
ng
Finance, Ben Diokno ng
Budget, at Ernie Pernia ng
Planning. Huwag natin
pakialaman ang matinong
pamamahala sa SSS. Pera
yan ng mga miyembro, na
pinamamahalaan lang ng
gobyerno para sa kanila.
Kung ma-pulitika ang pera
ng SSS at mamatay ito,
sisisihin ng 31 milyong
mi-yembro ang Duterte
admin.
Napaatras si Duterte.
Hindi niya puwede kunin ang
P48 bilyon sa buwis. Lugi
roon ang mga hindi kasapi ng

Christmas Shopping
YOU know what its like to get a gift that you really dont want or
cant use. You see them in the stores. All of us have got them. The
stores are full of junk gifts. You know, the kind of stuff you buy
because you dont know what to buylike a life size singing deer
head to hang on your wall the thing costs $100!!! Some people buy
gifts like fruit cake. What can you use fruit cake for?? You cant eat
it, its so nasty. I heard one man say fruit cake was so bad he tried to
give it to his dog but he wouldnt eat it, so finally he discovered
that it makes a great door stop.
Jesus has given us the most practical gift of all, eternal life for
those who turn to him. It is something that we all need. It is something that we all must have. Without it we die and go to hell. With
it, we live eternally. How much more practical could you get?
Let me ask you this morning, have you ever sinned? Do you have
sin in your life now? There is no gift that you could ever need more
than the gift of eternal life.
Buy a practical gift, and remember that Jesus gave us the best
gift anyone could ever receive.
Pleasing Gift. The gifts that we give should be something that
would please the one we are giving the gift to. I wouldnt want to
give my wife or mother a rifle for Christmas because I know that is
not a gift that would please her. We all know what happens to gifts
that we dont really care for. They get put on a shelf somewhere to
collect dust, or in the case of fruit cake it gets given to the dog.
I can witness to you this morning that there is no great gift that
has been given to me than the gift of Jesus. God gave us the pleasing gift we could ever ask for in the gift of his son. What more could
we ask for? You know, you dont need all of the stuff you have on
your Christmas list. The only real need any of us have is salvation,
and Jesus Christ has provided it. I can tell you that He has satisfied
the deep longing of my heart. It is the only gift that has ever been
given that is still pleasing today!
Jesus Christ is the great example when it comes to giving pleas-

claim that Rody is out to have her

killed. That is not even enough to
have a case filed against Rody on
probable cause.
Asserting that if anything
happens to her, the number one
suspect would be Rody, embattled
Leila said as she is now convinced
to file a petition for a writ of
amparo given the recent
statements of Rody which she
claimed proved that the threat
against her life and security was
serious.
She now says this is her legal
remedy and will file this before
the Supreme Court because of
what she claims is Rodys threat
against her.
Said she: That is the only
remedy Im thinking of at this
point. This time around, since its
a threat, I consider it a veiled
threat, Im thinking of (filing) a
writ of amparo, she said.
This would be very very
surprising if the High Court
grants her this writ of amparo on
just what she claims is a veiled
threat to her issued by Rody.
But it is not only Rody against
whom she will file the writ of
amparo. Leila said she will also
include among the respondents
her perennial critics such as
Justice Secretary Vitaliano
Aguirre, Solicitor General Jose
Calida and also the Volunteers
Against Crime and Corruption
(VACC) especially those who
raised funds encouraging others
to join and form a group against
her.
This writ is to tell them to

stop threatening me, to tell them

to stop issuing statements that can
incite people, whether their own
allies, their own supporters or
other elements to harm me. That
is the essence of the writ of
amparo.
Huh? Cases are lodged against
her by the Justice Department and
the National Bureau of
Investigation and such is already
considered by her as a threat?
And the VACC coming up
with a P1 million bounty and not
on her head either, is already a
threat to have her killed?
Leila has really gone bonkers.
Truth is, Leila is certainly
losing whatever credibility she
had, that is if she had one at all,
being a die-hard yellow.
She has turned herself into one
screaming virago, and there is
nothing strong about her either.
However, what is likely for her
to have been transformed into
such a termagant is probably due
to the fact that she faces a slew of
criminal cases lodged against her,
along with the many disbarment
cases that she has been ordered to
comment by the High Court, not
to mention the Senate Ethics case
where she also faces a complaint,
which , if she continues to wail
about unfairness and bias of the
Senate ethics panel, she may have
to face the Senate as a whole,
which is worse.
Her target is always Rody.
Now she says he has repeatedly
said that Im the leading narcopolitician and public enemy
number one which makes her fair
game for sinister things.
Leila insists that Rody should
be held responsible if something
happens to her.

ing gifts. His gift is pleasing!

Permanent Gift. The gifts that we give should be something that
is permanent and of lasting value. Not something cheaply made that
will break the first day it is used.
Also it should be something that will at least keep the interest
beyond Christmas day alone. We have all seen children who get all
kinds of nice expensive gifts for Christmas and by the end of the day
they are playing with the boxes.
Our gifts that we give should be permanent. God gave us the permanent Gift of eternal life (John 10:28-And I give unto them eternal
life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them
out of my hand.) There is really nothing else that we could ever ask
for our desire that is higher than this gift. Jesus laid down his own
self so that we could have this permanent gift. He wrapped himself
in human flesh and took on man. He bore our sins and took our shame.
The King of all Kings was born in a little stable. What a welcome to
our earth. He did all this so that we could have this permanent gift.
Purchased Gift. Its always a good idea to purchase the gift youre
going to buy and not just walk out of the store with it. So make sure
you pay for your gifts!! However, Jesus has already purchased the
greatest gift for us and that is of salvation.
Romans 5:15, But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if
through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of
God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath
abounded unto many.
James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
What is the best gift you could give this Christmas? Your heart.
The reason Jesus was born in a manger is lost in the tinsel of this
holidays celebration. In the midst of all of the shopping and giftgiving, we often lose sight of the real gift of Christmas the fact that
God purchased our salvation with His own blood so that we could
be saved.
Just as we give gifts during this Christmas season, Christ Jesus
has given the ultimate gift for our sins. His gift is personal, practical, pleasing, permanent, and he has already purchased it for us this
Christmas season. And just as we accept gifts for ourselves this Christmas, we should accept the gift of eternal life though Jesus Christ. In
order to do this you must admit that you have sinned. You must repent of your sins (change of mind and directions), and believe in Jesus
Christ. So this Christmas if you have not already accepted the gift
that He offers to you, why dont you do so this morning? This is the
real reason for the season!

kasalukuyang korona noong 2016 showdown at street

Legarda: 2017 budget funds centenarian law, rice allowance for 4Ps
SENATOR LOREN Legarda today said that the 2017 national budget includes funding, for the first time, for the Centenarian Law and rice allowance for
beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Funding for the two programs, as well as other programs for indigent Filipinos, especially senior citizens and children, is part of the 2017
budget of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) worth P128 billion.
For the first time, we have provided funds for the implementation of the Centenarian Law, which was enacted last year. 4Ps beneficiaries
will start receiving monthly rice allowance in the form of cash grants, said Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.
Other programs that target the most vulnerable sectors of societychildren, senior citizens, indigenous peoples (IPs), and citizens in
conflict-affected areasare prioritized in the DSWD budget, she added.
The DSWD budget for the implementation of Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Law is P100 million. Under the law, Filipino
citizens here and abroad who are 100 years old and above will receive P100,000 centenarian gift from the government.
Meanwhile, all 4.4 million beneficiaries of the 4Ps will now be entitled to monthly rice allowance in the form of cash grants. This is
incorporated in the budget for 4Ps worth P78 billion.
The DSWD will also conduct family development sessions for 4Ps beneficiaries. These sessions will include information on access to
livelihood and scholarship programs and topics on the protection of the environment, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and
mitigation, including the preservation of the indigenous culture in their locality. It will also conduct capacity building programs to prepare its
beneficiaries for the onset of natural hazards.
Indigent senior citizens will also continue to receive P500 monthly stipend under the DSWDs Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens; while undernourished children are the target beneficiaries of the Departments Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) for 2-4 year old
children in supervised neighborhood play and in Day Care Centers.
The 2017 budget also funds the Comprehensive Project for Street Children, Street Families and IPs, as well as the Payapa at Masaganang
Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program for conflict-affected areas.
We have provided funds for these programs of the DSWD to ensure that we address the needs and concerns of our citizens who
are most in need. We want to uplift the lives of our people and empower them to be part of nation-building, Legarda concluded.

City govt aids typhoon-affected farmers

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela Following the assessment conducted by the city
agriculturist here on the damages brought about by Super Typhoon Lawin to
the agriculture sector, the city government here has started distributing financial assistance to each affected farmer.
Rufino Arcega, city agriculturist, said based on their assessment, at least
2,000 hectares of crops were damaged by the recent typhoon affecting some
1,900 farmers here.
Most of the damaged crops were rice and corn, Arcega said.
He said city mayor Bernard Faustino Dy decided to give P1,300 financial
assistance to each farmer-recipient rather than farm inputs so that they will buy
the right agro-inputs for their farms.
Arcega said they will visit all affected barangays here until next week to
personally distribute the one-time financial assistance for the typhoon-affected
farmers. Merlito G. Edale Jr.
