By using the the karyotypes of each individual that was
at crime scene one we were able to see a distinct match in the chromosomes that belonged to both Sam Sophomore and Carelton Comet. Both individuals were born with XYY syndrome which caused them to have one X chromosome and two Y chromosomes. However crime scene twos karyotype showed Trisomy X syndrome and the only crime scene suspect that had that syndrome was Nancy Normal.
After running the finger prints on gel, the different colors
separated and we were able to identify the fingerprints by matching the bands of colors and their pattern to the crime scene fingerprint. Crime scene 1s run was a match to Sam Sophomore and Carelton Comet and crime scene 2 matched to Nancy Normals fingerprint.
The pedigree charts that we made for each of the
possible suspects showed the family history of diseases, deaths, and blood types that could been motive for the killer. Every one of the people that were at the scene when the murder occurred had some type of possible motive. Glen Glee's was adopted which could have resulted in trust issues, Carelton Comet came from prison which means he has a violent past and had changed his name, and Fred Flimmer's sister and his aunt Joan were killed by Freds dad Thomas Sandstone! Nancy Normals father past away from Huntington's disease which surprisingly was not passed down to her even though it is a dominant disease. Theresa Terras dad died and Sam Sophomore is an orphan because his parents died from Huntingtons disease. These deaths and family issues could have driven any one of the possible suspects to murder.
We began by first identifying the blood types of each
possible suspects and from there we began to analyze our results. After making the pedigrees we realized that most of the people in the time of the murder were some way related to each other, which is why every person in this activity could be a suspect because this blood type is a match to either crime scene1 or 2. The results were as follows: Crime Scene 1: Carelton Comet, Fred Flimmer, and Sam Sophomore ; Crime Scene 2: Glen Glee, Nancy Normal, Theresa Terra
For this activity we transferred the fingerprint found at
the crime scene onto a blank sheet of paper in der to
Crime Scene 1: Sam
Sophomore and Carelton Comet Crime Scene 2: Nancy Normal 2. DNA Fingerprinting Gel: Crime Scene 1: Theresa Terra and Carelton Comet Crime Scene 2: Glen Glee 3. Pedigree Chart: People with motive: 1. Glen Glee 2. Carelton Comet 3. Fred Flimmer 4. Nancy Normal 5. Theresa Terra 6. Sam Sophomore
4. Blood Type Matching:
Crime Scene 1: Carleton Comet, Fred Flimmer, and Sam Sophomore Crime Scene 2: Glen Glee, Nancy Normal, Theresa Terra 5. Fingerprint Matching:
Result:
clearly identify the shape and pattern of the fingerprint
which was a perfect match to Carelton Comets.
Carelton Comet 6. Fiber Analysis:
During the fiber analysis we observed different types of
hair and compared it to the hair sample found at the crime scene. The piece of hair was later identified as human hair. The human hair was later used to trace the DNA back to the suspect.
Ink chromatography, in this instance, was where we
used each pen and used alcohol to separate each of the pigments so we were able to correctly match the pen that wrote the nte and the person who the pen belonged to.
