Reese: Welcome back to the most watched and trusted news program on Philippine television: SOLS TV
Reese: For our Weather Forecast, here is our very reliable meteorologist and weatherforcaster, Ms Jannah Viloria
Jannah: Thank very much Ms Reese: Good evening our dear televiewers!
Reese: is there any weather disturbance coming to the Philippine area of responsibility?
Jannah: Typhoon Marina has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) @ 4am today November 22, 2016 estimated to be moving west at
15 kilometer per hour. Wind speed estimated at 15 kilometer per hour. Storm diameter estimated at 100 kilometers. Storm Signals are raised over 14
areas in the CARAGA Region. Moderate to heavy rains are expected in area of storm.
Reese: Thank you very much Ms. Jannah for the information. A televiewer by the name of :Jersey from SJDM Bulacan sent a question: He asked :
What are typhoons? And, What should we do during typhoons?
Jannah: Hello Jersey of SJDM Bulacan! The answer to your 1 st question is:
A typhoon is a type of large storm system having a circular or spiral system of violent winds, typically hundreds of kilometers or miles in diameter.
The winds spiral around a region of low atmospheric pressure.
"Typhoon" is the name of these storms that occur in the Western Pacific. "Hurricane" is the name given to these storms in the Atlantic Ocean and
Eastern Pacific. In the Indian Ocean, they are called "Tropical Cyclones".
As for your 2nd questions: There are safety measures everyone should do during the typhoon: According to the Philippine National Red Cross , there
are 3 phases of actions in the event of a typhoon. They are: before, during and after safety actions.
But heres what to do during the Typhoon:
Stay inside the house.
Always keep yourself updated with the latest weather report.
If safe drinking water is not available, boil water for at least 20 minutes. Place it in a container with cover.
Keep an eye on lighted candles or gas lamps.
Do not wade through floodwaters to avoid being electrocuted and contracting diseases.
If there is a need to move to an evacuation center, follow these reminders.
Evacuate calmly.
Close the windows and turn off the main power switch.
Put important appliances and belongings in a high ground.
Avoid the way leading to the river.
Reese: I see , that means we must be alert and ready before, during and after the typhoon to preserve lives and property. Thank you Ms Jannah and
thank you to Jersey who sent the questions. Please stay safe everyone.
Reese: That is our program for tonight. Thank you for watching.
