Introduction
Computer engineering was revolutionized in the life of human beings and it has made the lives
easier by the various kinds of applications. In the light of the rapid changes with the use of Computer
engineering, there are many tools, technologies and systems have been produced and invented. In the modern
world, time is short so if there are many processes taken place at same time within a place there is a
need for integration of all the processes, creation of paperless environment also ensures efficient task
management. Nowadays all the businesses are shifting to computer based system. The purpose to having a
computer based system is, it helps to increase the market share and its very easy for customers
to use. It is increasing the demand among the customer. This project is concerned with
developing Online Graduate Credentials Verification System for Bahir Dar University. It
will solve problem that exist in our university. Our new application (system) will help students to
provide daily operation and provide an easy application for students and to make their work user
friendly.

1.1 Background of the system

Bahirdar University is one of the huge educational institutions in the country.

From this

university there are around many students are graduated started from 1991 EC up to now which
are found in many governmental and none governmental organizations. And almost the files of
all these graduating students are found in the registrar of the university manually. The file of
these graduated students should be found properly.
The activities and tasks are held and focused on paper based depend operation, means managing
graduate information and solving students verification done manually. As a Result of the manual
verification system report writing, search graduate information, updating request verification and
view request is difficult.
The existing system has different basic challenges like storing data manually, needs of more man
power, the security issue, lack of accessibility and addressing, not effective to manage and other
limits also many backwards.

1.2 Statement of the problem

Official communication.
- In manual there is official communication between company and university about
employee profile but it is not detail.
Forged certificates.
- Manually when company wants employee it has no any verification whether the
employee is graduate from university or not, so due to this reason somebody can
made forged certificate and compute as graduate from university.
Details of courses taken.
- Manually the company doesnt know the details of the course that the students have taken
during their university stay for the fact that student copy is issued; due to this problem,
the company may get confused to evaluate performance of the Applicants.

1.5 Objectives:
1.5.1 General Objective
The general objective of this project is to develop Online Graduate Credentials Verification
System for Bahir Dar University.
1.5.2 Specific Objectives
In order to achieve the general objective we will perform the following activities: We will study the domain area and we will analyze the system.
We will design the requirement in order to solve the domain area problem.
Interview registrar staff member.
Review object oriented and uml.
Create different model using uml.
Review software development process models.
Code writing.
Testing the system.
System development Methodologies
Document Analysis: - In developing Graduate Credentials Verification System we analyze forms
and paper works of the existing system and related works from internet, and this will enable us to
understand the problem domain better.

Interview: - In developing Graduate Credentials Verification System we would like to have

conversation with registrar worker to understand their problem area and their interest.
Internet:- In developing Graduate Credentials Verification System we used internet to get more
information.
Observation:- In developing Graduate Credentials Verification System also we use observation
method that is we observe different graduation forms.
Time schedule
There might be some challenges that make the project schedule to unexpected way. We could not
say the project is delivered on time because there are many situations that disturb our project
schedule. As much as possible we try to overcome all the challenges. For the time scheduling
purpose; we use the following table in order to show a simple indication for the projects
progress in each and every phase.

Benefit of the project

To change Graduate Credentials Verification recording system from paper based to a
computer based system.
Full Access Information the company can get details information of employee from
university.
Because the system is web based there is no loosing of graduate information.
Used for easily manage graduate information.

Scope of the project

The scope of the project is the capacity of the system to give service for registrar and university
graduates employee organization. The scopes of the system are:

Allow employees of the registrar and the administrator to login with their own password.
External user can request credential verification by registering employee.
Information about employees shared by company from university.
To add new graduate information details.
To display graduate information
To generates report.
Display requested employee.
