The Scope
Downsizing of mechanical components and the application of novel,
greener lubricants as a means to improve energy efficiency and to
meet the strict environmental regulations in mechanical machines and
manufacturing processes comes with the danger of reducing the wear
life of sliding surfaces. New materials and coatings must therefore withstand harsher tribological conditions and at the same time provide
lower friction than ever. This leaves no room for trial-and-error solutions and requires a deep understanding of the underlying microscopic
mechanisms in the tribological contact.
The 2017 Friction, Wear and Wear protection symposium focuses on
the latest developments in materials and coatings development for ultra-low friction and wear, as well as friction materials, polymers and
PMCs. Since 2008, it is held every three year under the auspices of the
technical committee Materials aspects of tribology and machining
of the German materials society, DGM.

The organisers invite prospective authors to submit an abstract related
to the conference topics. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words in
length and should be submitted through the conference website:

breaks, lunch and poster sessions will be held in the exhibition area.

Please indicate whether an oral presentation or a poster is preferred.

The abstracts will be evaluated in December 2016, and if accepted,

the authors will be informed about the kind of presentation (oral or
poster).
