Dear Cooperating Administrator or Teacher:
Thank you for taking me into consideration as a potential teacher candidate in your school. I am currently a senior at Northern State University majoring in Elementary Education with minors in Early Childhood Education and Coaching. I am truly looking forward to furthering my education by observing in the classroom and working with other teachers, students, and staff members. My passion for becoming a teacher began at a very young age. I have known for quite some time that the field of education was the right career path for me. There were many teachers that helped guide me in this direction - one in particular, my fourth grade teacher. She was incredibly kind, loving, and anyone who met her knew she had a strong passion for her job. She made learning fun and I looked forward to each day in her classroom. After the incredibly positive experiences during my fourth grade year, I decided I wanted to instill the love of learning in other students as she had done for me. I had several educational opportunities in the classroom as a high school student such as being part of the HOSTS Program. The Helping Other Students to Succeed program provided me with the chance to work in the kindergarten classroom for one hour every day during my senior year. This wonderful program helped to solidify my desire to become an elementary educator. I also volunteered as an afterschool tutor for several years. On a more professional level, I have completed a pre-student teaching experience in an eighth grade classroom and taught a CSI Investigation Lesson on Edgar Allan Poe. During the fall of 2016 I also spent time observing and assisting at the Aberdeen Montessori school. In 2015, I completed my junior field experience during which I assisted in a third grade classroom with spelling, reading and math. I was also given the opportunity to teach a lesson on singular and plural possessive nouns. During my sophomore field experience, I observed some wonderful teaching methods and assisted fifth grade students with math. I am currently completing my last block of methods courses at Northern State and am excited to take what I have learned and put it into effect in an actual classroom. Thank you again for considering me for placement in your school. Please contact me at the email address or phone number above if you have any questions big or small. I look forward to the opportunity to work in a classroom and put my own knowledge to the test as I endeavor to enhance the lives of students as my own teachers did for me. Sincerely,
