of written records in generations. 770 BC The Zhou dynasty has been ruling for 275 years (since 1045). In this year they collapse into waring states. 206 BC The Han dynasty introduces the Golden Age. This is the age of economical growth, Confucianism, and Buddhism. 589 The Han dynasty collapses. As a result, China is separated and tension is built, causing four centuries of division. 907 The Tang dynasty is the key that reunites China, however it only lasts for three centuries. Under the influence of the Han, another age of growth is taken place.
1279 The Song Dynasty has been ruling for 319 years. They are weaker than the Tang, and are known for their
high point in culture and taking Confucianism as the
official state religion. 1271 The Mongols begin their rule in China and establish the Yuan Dynasty. Also during this time, Beijing became the capital of China 1644 The Manchu Qing Dynasty overthrows the Ming who created the Great Wall of China in 1368. Also, the Ming annexed Tibet, Zinjiang, and Mongolia. 19c The Qing dynasty takes over the rule and imposes a policy regarding Chinas ports. The Boxer Rebellion breaks out and drives foreigners away. 1911-1937 Chiang Kai-Shek and Mao Ze Dong fight against each other, Kai-Shek leading the Communists and Ze Dong leading the Nationalists. They pause in fighting when they must unite and take down Japan in WWII.
1949 The Communists take the victory when they defeat
the Nationalists. This caused the Nationalists to retreat to Taiwan and thus ending 20 years of Civil war. 1958 Mao imposes the Great Leap Forward, introducing industrial and economic growth. This plan failed after two years when it caused famine and a breakdown of order in agriculture. 1966 Maos Cultural Revolution, takes place and is meant to regain the countrys spirit. He did this through economic change and working on improving their life around them. 1979-90 China opens up to getting help from foreign influences and creates an Open-door policy, in hopes to regain strength. Also during this time they made a law restricting each family to one child only to decrease the population number. 1992 Russia and China restore unity and sign a declaration. China is ranked third largest economy in the world.
1993-94 Jiang Zemin becomes president of China. Work
on the Three Gorges dam begins. 1995 China works to give a threat to Taiwan by making and testing weapons. During this time, Taiwan is holding their elections and they are using this to freak them out. 1999 China is bombed by the Nato in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The Macao goes back to Chinese rule. 2001 China simulates a Taiwanese attack to prepare themselves. Also, China joins the World Trade Organization. 2002 Hu Jintao is named head of the Communist party. He replaced Jian Zemin who was named the head of Military commission.
