1.a)Explain five qualities of communications . (a)Correctiness- sending the message at the correct
time.
(b) Completeness-the message should be well organized.
(c) Consideration-in your message, you should always show consideration for the reader or listener.
(d) Courtesy- answer the letters promptly or respond to the message promptly.
(e) Clarity- what is to be communicated? .

b)Describe any five barriers to effective communication


(a) physical disabilities such as hearing problem.

(b) wrong choice of medium- unsuitable media may act as a barrier to effective communication.
(c) use of jargon- using some terms that other people don't understand may act as a barrier to
effective communication.
(d) Differences in perception and viewpoint is a barrier to effective communication.
(e).Lack of attention- in communication always there should be attention and interest.

2.a)Explain any five ways in which one should prepare a good speech
(a) Make sure you are arrange your points in such away that strong points are kept at the
beginning.

(c) Look for some suitable quotations if possible.
(d) Time your speech to make sure it is neither too long or too short.
(e) I dentify the points for discussion and decide what you have to say about them.

b)Describe any five types of discussion (a) Lecture discussion- is a type of discussion which allows
the discussants to to interrupt the leader with questions.
(b) Progressive Discussion - it involves small groups which discuss various asignd aspects of the
same question at the same time.
(c) Round table discussion-it usually begins with astatement of the problem.
(d) it requires individual discussants to present their unique viewpoints on the subject.
(e) Panel discussion- there are no prepared speeches .

get general ideas of passage.
(b) Read the passage again until you have grasped the entire meaning.
(c) Underline all the important ideas.
(d) Write down a little which sums up the theme of the passage.
(e) Rewrite in fewer words what the air her has said.

writing business letter.

(d) The senses- sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch each plays a part in non- verbal
communication.
(e) Sight - enables us to receive non-verbal communication .

7.a)Briefly explain five ways of preparing a persuasive speech (a) Prepare notes for your speech and
practice it alone.
(b) Prepare introduction and conclusion of your speech.
(c) Decide what visual will make your speech more effective.
(d) Select a topic narrow enough to be covered within allotted time.
(e) Find out what position people hold in the topic.

(b) By putting it down on paper- taking notes helps you focus on the highlights of what is being said.

(c) By Summarizing the message- writing the important points.


(d) By paraphrasing the message- you repeating in your on words.
(e) By providing encouragement - you can add `uh- huh` oh or I see.
