Ancient Indian Wisdom and Modem world

The Significance of the ancient Indian wisdom, for modern w::~rld, lies in the fact that it
inspires us to discuss those problems which have remained unsolved in spite of
maordinary achievements by advancement of modern science and technology
including management, governance, social, cultural, environmental and economic
development These problems are very much related to the safety of integrity of
mankind. We have failed to solve the environmental crisis and also to control the climate
changes caused by global warming, which has affected not only ecological system but
biological resources and lives of human being as well. All this happened due to the side
effects of the present age of globalization. People have become so selfish, in satisfying
the material and physical needs, that they have forgotten the values of other beings
living or non-living. However, on the positive side, the present age of globalization has
deeply affected all aspects of our lives- economic, cultural, natural, psychological etc.
Ancient Indian traditions retain these core concepts, in terms of sarvajana-hitaya
and sarvajana-sukhaya, and also have the capacity to include and develop new
thoughts that maketheir impact global. Ancient Indian languages like Vedic Sanskrit,
Sanskrit, Pali & Prakrit are highly inflectional languages which preserve the sublime
thoughts related to almost every branch of studies. The present w::~rld, prominently
based on new scientific trends, urges upon us to review those preserved values in a
new dimension. Therefore, there is a need to link it with rTl.lltidisciplinary systems
especially in the context of the study of various fields of modern education and
research system. However, it is not so easy task as ancient literature is too vast and
has varieties of subject matter in its extent. Therefore, it will be w::~rthwhile to take some
aspects of it for revisiting and rethinking those substantial matters of our scriptures,
which we claim as more scientific and beneficial if taken into consideration for further
advancement in any field of modern research and sb.Jdies. Thus, there is a need of
revisiting and rethinking the subject matter of our scripb.Jres in the context of modern
oorld. Hence ISIS has decided to organize first international conference on the
following theme:

"Ancient Indian Wisdom and Modern World"

The O"iental wisdom is rich in its content to provide subject materials for further
investigation in almost all fields of studies and research in new dimension.However,
there is rTl.lch need of perfect understanding between supporters of different schools of
Indian traditions. It is very much important for interdisciplinary approaches. Although,
the subject mattershave been discussed differently in various systems of O"iental
Sb.Jdies, but its core concept has uniformity. However, their approaches of investigation
towards external physical w::~rld are not so convincing and strong. Nevertheless, their
insights into internal sciences are unique ones. Thus, there is a need of multidisciplinary
thinking linking the ancient Indian wisdom with modern thoughts.The main theme of the
conference is

"Ancient Indian Wisdom and Modern World".

We welcome papers which focus on following sub-themes (but not limited to}:
1. Ancient Wisdom & Modern Science: Life Sciences, Physics, Philosophy of Science,
Astronomy, Cosmology
2. Ancient Indian Vision and Cognitive Science
