ABSTRACT

The success of college graduates in entering job world is one indicator of the relevance between
learning outcomes of higher education and market needs. Therefore, Widya Mandala Catholic
University Surabaya (WMCUS) is responsible for not only equipping graduates with the specific
competencies but also facilitating them to enter the work field.
The existence of Center for Career Development and Alumni Relations in WMCUS reflects the
responsibilities and services provided by WMCUS for new graduates and also current students
as prospective graduates. In addition, Center for Career Development and Alumni Relations is in
charge of developing services in areas of interest, talent, soft skills development, as well as career
guidance and employment information for current students and graduates. This center is
expected to develop a good network between WMCUS and the alumni so that the university is
able to obtain feedback regarding learning process that has been done as well as feedback from
the alumni companies expectation. This feedback is then used to develop a learning system and
improve the quality of learning.
To get a valid data about the relevance between WMCUS graduates competencies and the
needs of working place, Center for Career Development and Alumni Relations has already carried
out a tracer study and satisfaction survey. The aim of the tracer study is to get the feedback from
stakeholder about graduates competencies to improve the learning process in WMCUS. Alumni
and stakeholders can get an easy access by filling in online questionnaires at
www.wmcc.wima.ac.id/tracerstudy.
The result of tracer study is expected to help WMCUS in mapping the graduates activities,
knowing the gap between the competencies of graduates and the demands of the companies,
understanding

the absorption process, and also the position of graduates in the job world,

preparing graduates in accordance with the necessary competencies of the working place,
assisting government programs in order to map out the activities of Indonesian college graduates
in the job world.
