INTRODUCTION

A. Background of Study
Now days, we are living in the world of technology. All in our surrounding
made of tiny materials inclined with the technology. Houses, appliances,
gadget and even all things we used in our everyday lives related in
technology. Even things in our kitchen and including materials used in
cleaning to maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings are made of the
advancement of the so called technology. This experiment launched to
produce a product that would stay to traditional way of using floor wax out of
Ipil-Ipil leaves with lemon extract that would stay explore and to have double
purposes of cleaning our floor as well all parts of the house and use it to avoid
insect to stay in every corner of the house because of the content and the
scent of the lemon and ammonia added to it. This project does not need much
time and money because we can make our own floor wax within a short
period of time.

B. Statement of the Problem

In this study entitled Ipil-Ipil (Laucaena Glauca) as an Insecticidal


Floor Wax with Lemon Extract will help everybody to benefit to the result of
the experiment. It aims to answer the following questions:
1. Can Ipil-ipil fresh leaves be a replacement for floor wax?

2. How does the homemade floor wax derive from from ipil-ipil leaves
compare to commercial floor wax?

3. What are benefits we can get from Ipil-ipil insecticidal floor wax with
lemon extract?
Hypothesis
1. Ipil-ipil fresh leaves and dried seeds can be a replacement for floor wax.
2. Homemade floor wax is better than commercial floor wax.
3. Primarily used as cleaning materials. Contributes health benefits and can
be used as commercial product.
C. Significance of Study
In this study the people will benefit because they can use simple
basic ingredients that we can easily be found in our backyard and it prevents
diseases that may occur simply in our own home.
D. Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This study only tested the feasibility of using simple and cheapest
basic ingredients of using fresh leaves of Ipil-ipil, paraffin wax and lemon
extract with ammonia to create a useful floor wax that will help us
economically, practically and most of all in our health specifically.
E. Review of Related Literature
Ipil-ipil (Leucaena Glauca) = a tropical leguminous shrub (Leucaena glauca)
used esp. in the Philippines as a means of controlling various undesirable
grasses in pastures and rangeland. It is a small tree growing up 8 meters

high. Leaves are compound, 15 to 25 centimeters long, with hairy rachis.


Pinnae are 8 to 16, and 5 to 8 centimeters long. Leaflets are 20 to 30, linear
oblong, and 7 to 12 millimeter long. Heads are solitary, at the axils of the
leaves, long-peduncled, globose, and 2 to 5 centimeters in diameters.
