Hoffman, Joe. "Potential Health and Environmental Effects of Hydrofracking in the Williston
Basin, Montana." Case Studies. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Nov. 2016.
http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/health/case_studies/hydrofracking_w.html
In this article, Hoffman explains the effects Fracking has on the environment. After he reviewed
research done by scientist he presents his findings. He gave information backed by multiple
researches conducted by scientist and universities. He explains the potential risk to the
environment and also the risk to us. Hoffman says states that fracking affects our water, air, soil
and seismic activity. This article provides detailed information about the effect of land fracking;
it will show that fracking hazardous to our environment. Since I don't think fracking is safe i
want to know the effects that are often overlooked in fracking. This will also help me inform
other about many dangers that the fracking industry poses to our environment. Many people are
not aware about how fracking can affect the planet and overlook it because it means fuel for our
everyday life.

Good, Kate. "How Drilling the Earth for Natural Gas Is Fracking Up Human Lives Across
America." One Green Planet. N.p., 27 Feb. 2015. Web. 18 Nov. 2016.
http://www.onegreenplanet.org/environment/impact-of-fracking-on-human-health/
In this article, good explains the potential health hazards on humans caused by fracking. After
presenting many studies about effects on health she states the hazards.Good explains that water
contamination is one of the hazards because it may not be seen but it will make you sick because
of the chemicals and minerals. Another affects she states is air pollution this has many
consequences to it such as cancer, birth defect, respiratory problems and many other things. This

article provides many details about the health hazards that fracking can cause. It will help my
research about the reasons why frsacking is dangerous. It will help me inform people about the
risk fracking has on their health. Once they are aware of the risk that fracking has on them they
will be more willing to help change this and look for other sources of energy.

Rushton, Steve. "Contributoria." There Are Alternatives to Fracking. N.p., Aug. 2014. Web. 18
Nov. 2016.
http://www.contributoria.com/issue/2014-08/5392eccaf461286f4f00012b/
In this article, Rushton gives examples of other methods to get natural energy in order to replace
fracking. He states the things that are wrong and dangerous about fracking. He does not think the
UK should begin to use fracking as ha source to get natural energy. Rushton believes there are
many more ways to have clean energy without the danger of putting the land and peoples lives at
risk.He believes that air, water and soil pollution are harmful and other safer ways to get energy
exist. Windmills are one of the substitutions to fracking because they do not require digging
miles into the land with chemicals to extract gas which will eventually pollute our air. Wind mills
create energy called tidal energy he believes this is a much better source of energy and much
safer than fracking. This article provides many great examples of substitutes for fracking with the
same great clean energy for things such as lights, electrical cars which do not pollute our air the
way gas cars do. Also solar panels are a much safer form of energy. Rushton is in favor of ha
newer form of energy produced by fracking but with a much safer outcome. It will help with my
quest to find out new and much safer alternatives to fracking.

"What Is Fracking?" Mineral Web RSS. Mineral Wise, n.d. Web. 18 Nov. 2016.
http://www.mineralweb.com/what-is-fracking/
In this article a clear and understandable definition of what exactly land fracking is is presented.
This article is written to inform landowners what land fracking means so that if they ever sell
their land to oil companies they know what its for. It tells us that fracking is used to extract oil
and natural gas from the inner layers of the land. This will be used for car gas and other things
later on. Water and sand is shoved down to create fractures in the land to allow the gas to travel
into a pipe to be stored. The water and sand also resurface but that water is contaminated and will
be stored in a waste pond or reused in another fracture. The machines used for fracking are truly
powerful the sand and water mixture are pumped in with machines that reach 50,000
horsepowers pumping 80 barrels per minute or bpm with more than 10,000 psi of force. The mix
of water, sand and chemicals is called slickwater. This article provides ha simple defenition of
what fracking is. It will help me inform others who nay not know what it is in ha simple but yet
detailed way.

Nunez, Christina. "How Has Fracking Changed Our Future?" National Geographic. N.p., 11 Nov.
2013. Web. 18 Nov. 2016.
http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/energy/great-energy-challenge/big-energyquestion/how-has-fracking-changed-our-future/
In this article, Nunez explains the positive and negative effects fracking has in the long run for us
and the environment. After explaining and providing a background of fracking she list positive and
negative outcomes of fracking. She says that the positive long term effects of fracking consist of
creating about 1.7 million jobs for people to work the machines, also adds 62 million dollars to the
annual federal revenue. Although money is a good thing that could help our country the long term
risk are not worth the risk of the integrity of our planet and our health. This includes air pollution

caused by diesel engines to transport water and oil also gas that is burned up will put carbon
monoxide into the atmosphere that will harm our air in the long run. This article provides ha very
good unbiased opinion for people who want to know the effects fracking has on our life and
environment It will help me explain to people what the negative effects fracking has on our lifes.
