Strategies(2+)

Writing: Write stories

to develop
experiences using
different techniques
and event
sequences.
Reading: Determine
two or more central
ideas of a text and
analyze their
development over the
course of the text,
including how they
interact and build on
one another to
provide a complex
analysis; provide an
objective summary of
the text .

I learned how to
summarize stories as
well as write a cover
letter. I feel this will
help me in the future
when applying to jobs
or colleges.

I can improve by
going further in my
writing to explain
things at a better
level. I can also work
on analyzing things
further as opposed to
just briefly skimming
over text.

Speaking and
Listening: Evaluate a
speaker's point of
view, reasoning, and
use of evidence and
rhetoric, assessing
the stance, premises,
links among ideas,
word choice, points of
emphasis, and tone
used. Writing:
Develop claim(s) and
counterclaims fairly
and thoroughly,
supplying the most
relevant evidence for
each while pointing
out the strengths and
limitations of both in a
manner that
anticipates the
audience's
knowledge level,
concerns, values, and
possible biases.

This assignment
primarily help me
start to understand
rhetoric and how to
draw a readers
attention

I can do better at
supporting my claims
with textual evidence
to get my point
across further. I can
also work on being
more openminded
and try to understand
other peoples
opinions as well.

Unit 3. The Value of

Life

Reading: Determine
an authors point of
view or purpose in a
text in which the
rhetoric is particularly
effective, analyzing
how style and content
contribute to the
power,
persuasiveness, or
beauty of the text.

I loved this unit. I felt I

really learned a lot
about the value of life
and why we should
cherish it. I also
learned how to public
speak to the class
and certain types of
rhetoric to draw
peoples attention to
issues I wanted
addressed.

I could improve using

all forms of rhetoric in
my public speaking
as opposed to just
using pathos. I also
can do better at
considering others
points of views.

Reading Into the Wild

was a great learning
experience. I feel I
learned a lot about
McCandless why he
made certain
decisions. I was also
able to analyze
Krakauers
perspective as well.

One way I could

improve was to
annotate further and
go more in depth with
the journal.

Speaking/Listening:
Present information,
findings, and
supporting evidence,
conveying a clear and
distinct perspective,
such that listeners
can follow the line of
reasoning, alternative
or opposing
perspectives are
addressed, and the
organization,
development,
substance, and style
are appropriate to
purpose, audience,
and a range of formal
and informal tasks.
Unit 4: Into the Wild

Reading: Analyze the

impact of the authors
choices regarding
how to develop and
relate elements of a
story or drama.
