CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY
1.1. Background
Tenses is important in English language education. And also is a rule in the English language.
If someone wants to master English well, then he should be able to master the tenses well. In
addition to increasing understanding about the international language, learning English is at
least will be easier for us to get a decent job, or for the provision of our science in the future.
By understanding and mastering the International Language properly certainly provide
excellent benefits for us all.
To that end, it is necessary to first understand grammatical exist in English. In addition to
smooth pronunciation, we will also understand how to construct words to be spoken so that it
becomes a coherent sentences and correct according to his tenses. Among the forms of tenses
are the simple present tense, future perfect tense, present continuous and we will discuss this
in our paper.
1.2. Formulation of the problem
1) What is the simple present tense?
2) What is the future perfect tense?
3) What is the present continuous tensse?
1.3. Aim
From the identification of the above problems, the authors certainly aimed to clarify or
explain these points, in accordance with the knowledge that we have acquired. Hopefully
everything benefit us. If there are errors or words written in this paper, the authors apologize
profusely.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
2.1 Simple Present Tense
Simple Present Tense is the tense used to express an action or activity that takes
place / occurs at the present time in a simple form, activity or work that is done repeatedly,
daily habits, events or acts that have nothing to do with time, and to express general truths.
Simple Present Tense using this type of "TO BE 1" and "VERB 1"
TO BE 1 consists of: am, is, are (for more information, see the following table)

NOTES:
DO and DOES use the interrogative sentence.

IMPORTANT:
Only on a positive sentence, for the subject "He, She, It", the use of the verb (VERB) should
end with "s / es." The addition of "s / es" to the verb (inifinitive) are as follows:
In general, the verb is directly coupled with the suffix "-s", for example:
Work - Works
Write - Writes
Speak - Speaks
The verb ending in the letter "ch, o, s, sh, x" plus the suffix "-es", for example:
Pass - Passes
Finish - Finishes
Teach - Teaches
Go - Goes
Fix - Fixes
The verb that ends with the letter "y" and begins with a consonant, the suffix "-y" was
changed to "i" and then added "-es", for example:
Study - Studies
Carry - Carries
Cry - Cries
While the verb ending in the letter "y" that begins with a vowel, simply coupled with the
suffix "-s" only, for example:
Buy - Buys
Play - Plays
Say - Says
If the verb begins with the letter auxiliary verb (Modal Auxiliaries), then do not get the extra
"s / es", for example:

Can she open
He Must close

Function Simple Present Tense in verbal sentence


Declared an act of a habit or performed at certain times (Habitual Action), for example:
We study hard everyday.

Expresses a common truth or reality, or a truth that supposedly occurred constantly mnerus
(The General Truth), for example:

Simple Present Tense function in the sentence nomial
To declare a state of ongoing or current or acts that constitute a habit, for example:
I am a teacher.
They are here now.
To express a general truth, but in nominal sentences did not use the time information, for
example:
Ice is cold.
Fire is hot.
Specification of time for the Simple Present Tense used are:
Every hour (every hour), every minute (every minute), every morning (every morning),
everyday (every day), always (always), as a rule (the usual), at night (at night), sometime
( sometimes), usually (usually), often (often), seldom (rare).

2.2. Future Perfect Tense

Future Perfect Tense is the tense that is used to declare an event or action that would
have occurred or would have been done at a time when certain in the future.
NOTES:
At the Future Perfect Tense all subjects used the word "Have" as an Auxiliary Verb.
The word "Shall" is used only for Subject "I" and "we" only.

By next month, by the next year, by the end of this month, by the end of this day, by the end
of this year, etc.

2.3. Present Continuous Tense


Tenses describing the work that is happening today. Is said to be present because of
current and said continuous because the work is being carried out / in progress (in progress).
(Tense can also be used for the kind of action that lasts only for a short period of time).
Present Continuous Tense also called Progressive Tense Present tense is used to declare an
act, condition or event is happening at the moment to talk about. We can also use this tense to
talk about a change or the ongoing developments in a long time span. In addition, this tense
can also be used to describe an action that will be done in the future (planning). Generally,
this tense is also commonly called the Present Progressive Tense.
Function Present Continuous Tense
To show a deed is being done at this time / now.
To tell a change was happening.
For the meaning of the future (future), is a plan that we have made with caution.
To tells of an incident that occurred when we speak although not the right time. That is, we
are doing an activity today, this week, this month and so on, even when when we speak we do
not perform any activity.
To indicate an action that occurred repeatedly.
To show a work that will be done in the near future (plan)
NOTES:
On the use of Present Continuous Tense used verb must end with -ing / (Verb + ing).
Continuous Tense Present tense using this type of "TO BE 1".

CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION
Based on the paper, can be summarized as follows. Simple Present Tense is used to
declare the event or events activity, activity and so is the case today. Present tense is also used
to express a fact, or something that happens over and over again in these days. Remember,
the present means it is now, right now.
The present continuous tense is usually used to describe an event that is in progress. Future or
Simple Future Tense is used to express the events that will happen.
By mastering the English language well, then we will be able to master the communication
with other nations in the world. In addition, we can add insight and our knowledge for the
future. Therefore we should be able to master the tense properly. Therefore, we should be
able to understand the basics of understanding the language of the inggris.maka us a paper on
tense, hopefully with this paper we can understand about the basics of the English language.

Every morning I get up at 5 oclock. I am brushing my teeth and I am cleaning my


body with the soap. There take wudhu. After that, I will cleaned my badroom and sweep the
floor and the yard. And I will have breakfast with my family. After all eat, I am driving my
mother and my brother to school by motorcycle. Then I back to home, I wash the dhises.
I will finished cleaning the house, I watch TV to relax while waiting for 9 hours. I put
the make up on then I am going to campus. Because I am student in semester now. My school
begins at half past 4 p.m to 9 p.m every day.
