A declarative sentence provides some kind of a fact or an argument and ends with

a
full stop/period (.).
An interrogative sentence is the one which asks a question and ends with a question
mark (?).
An exclamatory sentence expresses a strong feeling or excitement and ends with an exclamation
mark (!).

An imperative sentence is that which requests or commands something of the listener or the
reader.
A compound sentence is a sentence is made up of two or more independent clauses joined by a comma
(,) or a semicolon (;) or a conjunction.

A simple sentence is made up of only one independent clause (main clause).


A complex sentence is a sentence that contains an independent clause and at least
one dependent clause.
Active voice describes a sentence where the subject performs the action stated by the verb.
Kim(SUBJECT) read the poem.
In passive voice sentences, the subject is acted upon by the verb. The poem was read by Kim.
