    The crew of the CMA CGM AMBER conducted a fire drill in the purifier room as required by SOLAS regulations. The drill scenario involved a reported fire in the purifier room. Upon the fire alarm, crew members proceeded to their designated stations including an engine fire team, ECR team, bridge team, deck fire team, material team and medical team. The fire was reported to involve oil. Under the direction of the Master, the firefighting teams used foam extinguishers to combat the fire, extinguishing it within 17 minutes.     FIRE IN THE E/R PURIFIER ROOM DRILL, AS PER SOLAS III REG.19.3.4, NTVRP
    CH 6&7.
    Events sequence : briefing, chronological sequence and debriefing

    16:20 All crew gathered in Ships Office. Chief Officer and 2nd Eng. start explain drill
    scenario.
    16:24 Briefing carried out, crew ready for drill.
    16:25 Fire reported in the Purifier Room.
    16:26Fire alarm sounded followed by P.A. announcement Fire drill in Purifier Room, all
    crew proceeds to designated stations.
    16:27 Crew proceeding to designated stations.
    16:29 Every team leader report to bridge that their team gathered to designated stations as:
    -

    Engine fire team , 5 persons mustered;

    ECR team , 3 persons mustered;

    Bridge team, 3 persons mustered;

    Deck fire team, 6 persons mustered;

    Material team, 4 persons mustered.

    Medical team, 3 persons mustered.

    16:30 C/E reported, all ventilation in the Purifier Room closed, electrical power shut off.
    16:31 - Attack team (Engine team) and support team (Deck team) start dressing.
    16:33 - Attack team ready

    - bottle pressure:

    fire fighter no.1 = 300bars;


    fire fighter no.2 =295 bars;

    16:33 - Support team ready

    - bottle pressure:

    fire fighter no.3=290 bars;


    fire fighter no.4=290 bars;

    16:34 - Material team and medical team ready. Attack and support team ready aft
    accommodation, engine entrance. Boundary cooling commenced by support team.

    16:35 2nd Eng. report, fire fighters proceeds to purifier room from stbd side.
    16:40 Firemen report, fire involved with oil.
    16:49 As per Master decision fire fighters start to combat the fire with foam extinguisher.
    16:56 Fire fighters reported, fire extinguished.
    16:59 Debriefing started - Good performance during drill but problem with communication
    via radio inside E/R between fire team and command to be used alternative methods,
    phones, emergency phones, signals.
    17:05 Debriefing carried out, end of drill.
    NEXT FOLLOWING DEVICES WAS USED DURING THIS DRILL:
    Breathing apparatus sets, fireman's outfit, portable radio, stretcher, oxygen bottles, fire hoses,
    nozzle, portable foam fire extinguisher.

    MASTER/SSO and CHIEF MATE drill assessment & suggestions

    Every crew member must be ready at every moment to dress and to become a fire fighters,
    all crew must have a safe and quickly react when the fire alarm sound.
    DPA/CSO comments (for security training, CSO comments are compulsory as per ref ISPS A 13.5)
