135,194 km2 With a population of 25.5 million, Chhattisgarh is the 16th most-populated state of
the nation. It is a source of electricity and steel for India, accounting for 15% of the
total steel produced in the country.

Operation Green Hunt to hunt Maoists
Communist Party of India (Maoist) took the responsibility for killing 14 Central Reserve Police
Force (CRPF) personnel in Sukma district of south Chhattisgarh.

Reason behind Attack: According to them the attack was peoples reply to the expansionist
policies of the Narendra Modi Government(Centre) and Raman Singh(State). It was an
answer to the Operation Green Hunt.

To stop attacks on the people of Danda Karanya by CRPF and STF( Special Task Force)
personnel, rebels in association with the PLGA (Peoples Liberation Guerrilla
Army) fighters attacked on the CRPF.

Govt approves electronics cluster in Raipur


Government has approved the set up of fifth Greenfield electronics manufacturing cluster in
Raipur, Chattisgarh worth Rs.89 crore and the central government will provide Rs.43.07 crore, for
manufacturing mobile phones, solar LEDs and consumer electronics products.

Department of Electronics and IT (Deity) has already given nod to 17 Greenfield EMCs and
approved four EMCs which include two in Madhya Pradesh, one each in Rajasthan and
Jharkhand.

It has approved only one Brownfield EMC which is located in Mysore while given nod to three
other brownfield EMCs

20th National Youth Festival begins in Naya Raipur


The 20th National Youth Festival has commenced in capital city of Chhattisgarh, Naya Raipur.

DBT Scheme for Kerosene from April 1, 2016


The government will unveil Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for kerosene from 1st April
2016, where the users will buy the cooking fuel at market rate but will get financial support
directly in their bank accounts.

The scheme will be implemented in selected 26 districts of 8 states.

In this regard, states be given cash incentive of 75% of subsidy savings during the first
two years, 50% in the third year and 25% in the fourth year.

Chhattisgarh Signs MOU on UDAY
GOI, Chhattisgarh and CSPDCL (Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company
Limited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for operational & financial turnaround of
Discoms under the Scheme UDAY Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana.

First MOU on UDAY signed was signed between the GOI, Jharkhand and the JBVNL
(Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited) in start of Jan 2016.

Chhattisgarh govt to form joint venture company with Railways
Chhattisgarh government will be forming a joint venture company with the Ministry of
Railways. The project is formed for the development and extension of railway tracks in the
state.

The state Commerce and Industries Department and the Railway Ministry signed
the MoU for the project.

The state government will have 51 per cent share and the Railways remaining 49
per cent share in the project

Chhattisgarh govt launches Udyam Aakansha scheme to promote SMEs
Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh has launched Udyam Aakansha Scheme for promoting micro,
small and medium enterprises in the state.
Objective: To promoting the ease of doing business.
About Udyam Aakansha scheme:

The Udyam Aakansha scheme would facilitate free online registration and selfcertification to the investors interested in investment on micro, small and medium
enterprises and service businesses.

The investors can enroll themselves online through website of the Industries department
which will be based on self-certification process.

For the online registration, investors need not submit any documents nor have to pay
any fee.
