Statement of the Problem

This study seeks to determine the Academic Achievement of the Students in Notre Dame of Marbel
University Police competency. Study sought to answer the following questions:
1. What is the level of Academic Achievement of the criminology Students in Notre Dame of Marbel
University in terms of:
1.1. Academic Skills Development
1.2. Study and Thinking Skills
1.3. Personal Issues
1.4. Planning for the Future
1.5. Resource Needs
2. To determine the level of Police Applicant Competency in terms of :
2.1. Appearance
2.2. Punctuality and Attendance
2.3. Professional Attitude and Police Community Relations
2.4. Knowledge
2.6. Performance
2.6. Relationship
3. Is there any significant relationship between Language proficiency of Criminology students in Notre
Dame of Marbel University as basis for Police Applicants Competency?
1.

The (Table 1) measures the level of Academic Achievement of Students in Notre Dame of Marbel
University. The following results described the performance of the students in different aspect that
will thoroughly assess the students performance during school. In (table 1), the result of Academic
Achievement accumulated scores with the mean of (3.42) which has SOMETIMES descriptive level
that the statement is sometimes true or the student practice the following indicators of academic
achievement.

2. In (Table 2) determines the level of Police Recruit Competency. The following survey questions assess the
level of competency of the trainee applying for the Philippine National Police. The researcher founds out
that the level of competency of the police recruit with the over-all mean of (3.9) which means
SATISFACTORY that describe the police competency as FAIR. With this result, it interprets that the level
of competency of PNP recruits is only fair.
3. The last problem determine if theirs significant relationship in Academic Achievement of the student as
basis for Police Recruit Competency. As to the following result of the survey questions, the academic
achievement of the students which have the descriptive level of SOMETIMES, means that the following
questions for Students Performance is sometimes true to them and the Standardized Evaluation Guidelines
for the PNP recruit with the Over-all mean of (3.9) resulted with only fair judgement in the applicants
competency. Therefore, if the academic competency of the student is sometimes practice based on the result

of the survey question, the measurement of the success of the student is just 50%. The results clearly
indicates that the level of academic Achievement of the student is not the basis for police recruit
competency.
