Your Target
At the end of this activity, you will be adept in designing, using and interpreting
results of objective test .
Your Map
Designing and using assessment tools sounds interesting especially if you
know their curricular intensions. Take calculated strides in pursuing this interesting
task through these stages.
Step 5: Analyze and interpret the
data obtained from it focusing on
target competency.
Step 4: Conduct the pen-and-paper test
in a class
Step 3: Make a table of specification and
construct pen-and-paper test items on the
subject observed.
Step 2: Study the teachers objectives of the
lesson: Observe his/her class, focusing on the
evaluation part of the lesson.
Step 1: Visit a class on a subject area of your choice.
Your Tools
As you visit schools, study the teachers objectives, formulate test items and
interpret results, make a clear documentation of your tasks using the activity form
provided for you in this boo. For your pen-and-paper test items customize a table of
specification, and prepare the test materials based on the prescriptions of the school
where you do the class observation.

Your Analysis
Do you think the teachers learning objectives was
appropriately assessed by your test items?
Yes, I think the teachers learning objectives was appropriately
assessed by the test items. The test items were constructed based on their
discussion about the unit circle and the circular functions.
Why do you have to study the teachers learning objectives
prior to developing an assessment tool?
Studying the teachers learning objectives prior to developing an
assessment tool is of utmost importance. Since assessment tools check the
understanding of students, we need to make sure that the assessment tool
being used is connected to the teachers prepared set of objectives. We can
only say that the learning outcome is validly assessed if the assessment
measures what it intends to measure. The alignment of the learning
objectives with the assessment tool assures the accuracy of the assessment
used.
Your Reflection
Write your personal reflection of thoughts and feelings
regarding Peace Concept on Focus. Share your reflection with your
FS teacher and classmates.
Learning is an active process which requires the learner to work with and
apply what they have acquired to their everyday life with the teacher playing
the major role as information deliverer and environment controller.
A classroom that is free from distractions and is well-managed by the
teacher-in-charge can create an environment that is conducive to learning. It
promotes focus and interest which can encourage students to perform well
inside the classroom.
The teacher will be able to choose the most appropriate and effective
methods and strategies in teaching and assessing the learner in the learning
process when theres peace concept on focus.
