What we learned about the project?

First, we learn about other country that we had not idea before. By the research
made we notice about the culture in Panama (things like the crafts, the typical
clothing, their diversity, their ethnics among others), also we noticed about their
economy, we learned that Panama Canal is the base of their economy because all
the things that are made in the Canal.
We also noticed about their political structure and we could see that their political
system is almost the same that in Mexico but they do not have the problems that
Mexico has like corruption and the high salaries of the public workers.
We also learned about their history (at least how they formed as a state-nation and
their situation after the cold war) comparing this with Mexico we can see that the
United States contributed in the independence of both countries (in Mexico the
official history doesnt said that but it is true).
And also we noticed about the quality of life of the Panamanian and that there are
a lot of people of other countries living there, other thing we can saw is how the
citizenship is exerted by Panamanians.
Relation of the citizenship and crafts between Panama and Mexico
Citizenship is characterized by participation in public affairs and the sense of
belonging to a community. These two aspect, are also linked each other and
intimate, only persons who are members of a community feel to share values and
norms of coexistence are actively involved in public affairs; and only through
participation develops and grows the sense of belonging to the political community
of reference.
The same handicraft is a form of membership since from this culture is expressed
and the beliefs of the country, then it is important to preserve the culture of
craftsmanship since this is the essence of the country because it shows the
beginning of its history. On the other hand crafts is part of the driver drives the
economy of peoples who are linked to tourism; in the same way the importance of

craftsmanship ceases to be only social, and becomes economic and development

in general.
A way to preserve the artisan production of the countries is creating conscience in
the society of which this one form leaves from the cultural patrimony of each
country since it is a reflection of his people and her history in addition of which it
entails a great manual work, are needed many working hours to be able to make
any crafts and nowadays the people when seeing some crafts think that, although
she is pretty, she gets to be very expensive without putting itself to think about
everything the cost of making it.
Mexico as Panama are countries whose economy depends to a great extent on the
tourism, and therefore the crafts comprise great of the monetary power that
circulates within them; within these countries in some occasions the crafts are
despised by its inhabitants, nevertheless all the external people who are visiting
other places find it very interesting and of much value; therefore promoting the
nationality sense is very important because if we did not appreciate the essence of
our country is difficult that the foreign citizens do it.
Now talking about the citizenship in both countries we watch that in Panama there
are more active citizenship participation that in Mexico, in Mexico for example there
are more passive participation but from part of the people higher than 35 years
(they only go to vote and they maintain inform about what is happening in the
country) and there are a lot of active participation from part of the youngest people,
and we can see that in a lot of parts, beginning with our school, there is an
association named UPEC that now is collecting toys in order to bring them toys to
animate them, we can see that for example in programs that some TV companies
made like TV AZTECA that every year organize a program that it cause is to clean
all Mexico streets in order to have a better environment.
Meanwhile in Panama we saw an active participation of all their population, many
people are involved in social programs, in associations, in foundations and also
many colonies get organized to have a better environment.
