How I chose my topic:

I chose Abraham Lincoln because Abraham Lincoln was marked back then as a man who have
changed the life of others. Choosing Abraham Lincoln was easy, due to the amount of
information there is about him. There is enough evidence to back up Abraham Lincoln as a
topic, due to many of the achievements he has made during his life.
How I conducted my research:
First, I went on the Calvert High Schools website and used our databases like Britannica
School. Then, I visited some websites which show and give me ideas that provide me with the
information that helps me advance in history fair. These resources provided me with reliable
information about the years theme, taking a stand up in history regarding Abraham Lincoln.
How I chose my presentation category and created my project:
I chose to present my project by creating my own webpage. I chose this category because I
have more experience in creating and designing a website to show the information for my topic
on history fair. First, I created an account on Weebly to get an idea on how I would like to
organize my project. Some of the tabs I created to organize my project are: Homepage,
Before/Early Politics, During/Political Career, After/Win & Death, Implications , Process Paper,
and Bibliography.
How my topic relates to the theme:
My project on Abraham Lincoln relates to the theme for this years theme, Taking a Stand In
History, by the actions that Abraham Lincoln have done. Abraham Lincoln has made a change
to a number of people down in the South in the 19 th century. Slaves, or known has labor
workers, have been neglected and treated horribly during the time. They were forced to work
on plantations for farmers in bad conditions to where it was a possible chance of death. When
Abraham Lincoln came into politics, he didn't like slavery at all, so he worked his way up to
become the 16th President of the United States. He created a law to abolish all slavery, which
would mean all slaves would have freedom, equal rights, and equality with whites. With this
action taking place, Abraham Lincoln has changed a enormous amount of slaves to finally be
able to have freedom.
