Purpose
Thesupplysourcedeterminationfunctionisusedtoassignsourcesofsupplytorequirements.Thistakes
accountofbothinternalsourcesofsupply(distributioncenters)andexternalsourcesofsupply(external
vendors).

TheSystemusessourcedetermination,forexample,inRequirementsPlanning,Ordering,Allocationand
StoreOrderfunctions.Eachapplicationcancontrolhowthesupplysourcedeterminationproceedsand
analyzetheresultsdifferently.

Prerequisites
Byusingthesupplysourceindicatorinthearticlemasterlogisticsdata,youcandefinewhetheritis
preferableforthesystemtosearchforaninternaloranexternalsourceofsupply.Supplysourcescanbe
definedinthesystemasfollows:
Supplyingsitesinthesitemaster
Youcandefineinternalsupplysourcesbyenteringoneormoresupplyingsitesinthesitemaster
data.Youhavetheoptionofassigningthesupplyingsitestositesatthemerchandisecategorylevel
ortoentireassortments.

Youcanenteravalidityperiodandapriorityforeachsupplyingsite.Prioritiesenableyoutoselecta
supplyingsiteifvariousvalidsupplyingsitesexistforaparticularperiod.
Purchasinginformationrecord
Purchasinginformationrecordsdefineinternalorexternalsourcesofsupply.
Outlineagreements
Thesystemevaluatestheoutlineagreementsthatexistinthesystemwhendeterminingsupply
sources.Anoutlineagreementcanberelatedtoanexternalsourceofsupply(forexample,value
contracts)oraninternalsourceofsupply(forexample,stocktransportschedulingagreement).
Outlinearrangementswithsupplierscanbeviewedviathepurchasinginformationrecord,evenif
outlineagreementsdonotexist.
Quotas
Quotasareusedveryrarelyinretail.Quotascanbeusedtodefinevariousinternalorexternal
sourcesofsupplytowhichprocuredmerchandiseistobedistributedusingquotas.Youcanalso
enteroutlineagreementsassourcesofsupply.Youcanusequotas,forexample,thatcannotbe
suppliedbyasolevendorbecausedemandistoogreat.

Ifrelevantquotaarrangementsexist,thesystemchecksinCustomizingifthequantity
requiredhastobesplitamongdifferentsourcesofsupply(quotaarrangementsplit).The
quantityrequiredisthensplitupamongseveralsupplysourcesinlinewiththequota
arrangements.
Sourcelists
Sourcelistsareusedveryrarelyinretail.Youcanassigninternalorexternalsourcesofsupply,
includingvalidityperiods,toacombinationofarticlesorsites.Youcanalsoenteroutlineagreements
assourcesofsupply.Youcanusesourcelists,forexample,asafinetunedcontrolfordetermining
sourcesforparticulararticles.

youwillreceiveawindowcontainingthesystemsuggestions.Youcanonlyselect one sourceofsupply.

Ifyoucarryoutsupplysourcedeterminationinthebackground,thesystemmustdeterminea clear source

ofsupplysothatthesystemcanthengenerateapurchaseorderautomatically.
