Speaking-Talking about irritating habits and changes in our life

Materials: textbook, blackboard, sheets of papers.
Anticipated problems
- students are not aware of the grammar structure (PresentTenses);
- students might have difficulties in using the proper present forms in their tasks.

The teacher writes a personal example on the blackboard using going to

If students give similar examples he writes one on the blackboard.
The teacher asks them what phrase in the sentence refers to the future. Then he explains to
them that they will learn new future forms.

Students solve exercise c/23. They have to identify the difference in meaning between the
verb forms. They solve exercise 7a/23 writing a sentence for each picture using going to
phrase.

Students work in pairs and read the examples and the rules ignoring the gaps. Then
teacher leads them to give the correct answer for each rule.

- to provide fluency practice using going to (decisions made before the moment of
speaking).
Teacher asks students:
Do you make New Years resolutions? (plans for the next year)

Students works in pairs. One is the reporter, the other one is a famous person.
Role-play an interview.
The reporter asks: What are going to do next year?
The famous person makes two resolutions for New Year.
The other students have to guess who the famous person is according to his/her plans
Extra activity: speaking aim:
- to practise going to for planned actions.
Students do a drill on the idea of a class party planned for the weekend.
Students do an alphabet drill. Each student says what he is going to bring to the party.
They make sentences with a word beginning with the same letter of the alphabet as their
name.
e.g.: Im Alina and Im going to bring an apple.
Im Marian and Im going to bring the music.
ACTIVITY 3 speaking aim:
- to provide fluency practice using will/ wont (spontaneous decisions)
Students work in pairs. They imagine two friends having a conversation. One of them has
a problem and the other suggests a helpful answer. The situations are written on the
blackboard and one student reads a situation and another students suggests him an answer to
help him out.
Assignment
Students have to do exercise 7b page 23, exercises 4, 6/14 Language Booster. They are to
correct the verbs in on interview replacing them with the correct future forms.
