The effect of tourism in my country

Tourism has A positive impact on the economy of my country, particularLY in THE rural
areas .However, there are also SOME negative effects

of tourism that should be

considered .
To begin with, tourism is one of the most important source of income in Spain. During the
last decades Spain's foreign tourist industry has widely grown and nowadays represent an
important percentage of GDP ( Gross Domestic Product ) that reports many benefits to
our country. One of the most important is that it creates many employment opportunities,
another is the benefit of a better infrastructure BEING produceD in the country.
Secondly, tourism

helps to spread the country's culture. Tourism encourageS the

preservation of traditional customs, that otherwise could have disappeared . Furthermore,

we cannot omit the advantages of cultural understanding produceD through interchanges
between natives and foreigners.
In contrast, there are some people who claim that money generated FROM tourism does
not always benefit the country due to it leaks out /as it has to be shared with
international companies, such as hotel chains. Besides, tourism can have a detrimental
effect on the quality of life of the community and the interaction with touristS can also lead
to an erosion of traditional culture and values.
Taking these points into consideration and having considered that tourism is beneficial as
well as harmful, I would like to say that the benefits of tourism overweigh the
disadvantages . Needless to say , these negative effects can be controlled if governments
make policies against the negative impact of the tourism.
