vane, rain gauge), and recording weather data (temperature, precipitation, sky conditions, and
weather events) in a periodic journal, on a calendar, and graphically. d. Analyze data to identify
seasonal patterns of change.

Description of how to implement in the class: Students will use Microsoft Word to record the
weather and temperature at home they observe over the course of 2 weeks in the form of a chart.
Students will use NCES Create A Graph to create graphs to represent the weather and temperature
data they collect over the course of 2 weeks. Students will then write a short essay in Microsoft Word
to identify and describe the characteristics of different types of weather.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): I believe this assignment is a LoTi level 3, because
students have to know and comprehend the information, apply analyze and evaluate the data they
record, and present the information to the class and play the role of instructor.
Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: The images of the sample
chart and graph attached to this lesson idea show an idea of how students weather charts they make
in Microsoft Word and the graphs they make on the NCES website should look.
Other comments about your proposed spreadsheet/graph/chart activity: Overall I think this
lesson idea has a lot of flexibility and can be modified to fit different needs.
