KEY THEMES/QUESTIONS
What is a conic section and how can we use them to describe functions?
What are the different conic sections and how can we manipulate a cone and plane to generate them?
How do we apply our observations from manipulating a cone and a plane towards generating functions that represent them
and then graphing those functions?
ASSESSMENT
Formative assessment on background knowledge of base conic sections: circle and parabola
