Report of the Workshop on-

Engagement in Teaching-Learning and Problem Solving Issues

Do You Use your Brain effectively?

The Bangladesh Institute of Islamic

Thought (BIIT) hosted a workshop
on Engagement in Teaching-
Learning and Problem Solving
Issues: Do You Use your Brain
effectively? by Prof Dr Yusuf
Mahbubul Islam on Saturday, 14th
December 2017 at the Conference
hall of BIIT, Uttara, Dhaka.
M Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of
BIIT introduced Dr Islam as a Vice
Chancellor of Daffodil International University and Honble Fellow Member of BIIT. He
is the Founding Executive Director of the Human Resources Development Institute
(HRDI) of Daffodil International University where he spearheads the development of
innovative teaching techniques, student study techniques and supports teachers to attend
PhD programs abroad.
Prof Islam started his lecture by
asking the question- YOU what is
different about YOU? He discerned
that questionability & planning ability
make YOU difference from any other
creation like monkey which also
proves the numbness of Evolution
Theory. Going to describe the
effectively use our brain; Dr Islam
described the two state of BRAIN-
consciousness state & sub-consciousness state. At a stage, all the 40 participants
presented in the workshop were grouped in pair to discuss & then to decide- In what
way can you launch thinking or begin engaging your brain? With the idea of the
participants, Dr Islam instantly prepared a Model or Steps of Brain Use and explained it
to the audience. Prof Yusuf M Islam argued that Allah (SWT) has made our brain so we

should keep our trust on Him. If you dont trust
Him, does it mean He (ALLAH) is a poor Maker?
Finally, he threw a CHALLENGE and explained the
challenge in a diagrammatic presentation.
Earlier the workshop started with the recitation
from the verse of al-Quran. The entire session
was as interactive as the participatory approach is
which enabled almost all audience members to
personally engage with the moderator.
