A new study indicates that the more sex you have, the more youre likely to earn.

This is a provocative statement found in the article Wage Interactions under the category

New Perspectives-Social Security of the site called Project M. In reality, how are sex and

wages connected?

The discussion paper studied by Nick Drydakis and published by the Institute for the

Study of Labor (IZA) has a perception of a sensitive topic. Initially, there are certain

thoughts with regards to the importance and the benefits of the study. Well, according to

Drydakis, the purposes of the research are to make an estimate on whether sexual activity

of a person is associated with wages and also to estimate probable interactions among the

persons characteristics or personality, wages and sexual activity. What is the objective of

the author in formulating the study? The main reason behind the study is to denote that

sexual activity, like that of health indicators and psychological well-being, may signify the

measurement of an individuals productive traits in the workplace that closely affect wages.

In an investigation made by Paulo R.A. Loureiro, Jaime Orrillo, Mario J.C. de

Mendonca and Tito Belchior S. Moreira, Impact of Sexual Activity on Wages, they stated

in their theoretical presentation that sexual activity and wages are non-linear. This means

that the two subjects are not correlated, taking into consideration the impact of sex on work

productivity and as a result on wages that occurs in a specific periodic interval which one

cannot distinguish if some variables were not tested. In their test, they used different

dummies to enumerate and determine certain frequencies. Their investigation then has

proven that their assumption is valid.

 Meanwhile, in the research of Nick Drydakis, he performed several stages of tests

and enumerated wide range of variables such as age, sexual preference, civil status,

employment status, school background, types of illness, belief or religion, characteristics

and even school background of parents, thus making this study more precise. The

information gathered were answers made by Greek citizens. Why is the research

appropriate for Greek nationals? In a blog about The Greek Personality: An urban study of

people published by Asli Omur, she defined Greeks as inquisitive persons. She also

described that Greeks tend to be very outgoing, extroverted and communal in lifestyle. And

when it comes to the issue of sexual activity, Greeks are quite comfortable to it and are

open-mindedness. They are a male-dominated society. Although prostitution, brothels and

pornography are legal in Greece, these were not exposed nor served as parts of everyday

living of an average Greek. These may be the cases why the study was made in Athens,

Greece. It is in nature that the topic of this research can be handled well by the

respondents. Greeks corresponded to the types of tests formulated that if, for most of

Asians particularly Filipinos would find it offensive or undesirable that may lead to declining

the tests. Knowing Asians are more conservative people, may be this study would not be

that successful if they were the respondents because of some tests that are mostly not

applicable to the cases of individuals that are employed but are unmarried or for very young

respondents. In my personal view, a sexual intercourse is a sacred act and must only

happen when two persons of opposite sex are married. And this is the principle that I would

like to live by.

Though, it has been proven in the study that sexual activities have positive effects in

a persons health and personal traits. It has benefits on a persons physical, emotional and

psychological health. For example, a person who is sexually active may decrease his risks

to some diseases, tends to be happier, livelier and that reduces the feelings of stress,

anxiety and depression. By means of this, he can perform well in the job and show a better

outlook in life. Happy and healthy employees are more productive. Therefore, if these

changes were observed by the management where the person is working, an increase in

his wage will likely occur. With the results of the study and in the practical side, may be

people will favor this instead of choosing other options like broadening their knowledge and

developing their skills through seminars and trainings, taking up master's or doctorate

degree, in order to receive wage increase. If you are in the situation, what would you

choose?

In entirety, sexual activity and its frequency showed some positive and negative

effects on wages considering the status of the person involved in it and the reasons for it.

Practically, the study may bring to some, a good idea but what is important is that we know

that there are indicative limitations and that there is a deeper reason for itlove and not

money.
