Dear Parents, This past month and upcoming month, students have been engaged in various testing. Kinder through 8th graders have taken the middle of the year NWEA test which is used for a ‘number of things. Although its only the middle of the year, we use ths test to check how students are progressing. This will be the last year the NWEA end of year testis used for: 3rd, 6th, and 8th grade promotion, high school eligibility for current 7th graders, and selective tenraliment to other school options. Because ithas such weight on these criteria that impact students’ futures and our school rating, we ask parents to partner with teachers in reviewing student progress from last June or this past September. Questions to ask yourself and your child: Is the student progressing in both reading and math? Is it the expected amount of growth? What habits can be celebrated for these results? Which habits need to be adjusted jn order to sustain or increase growth? Your child's teacher can offer recommendations for activities at home thet can continue to sustain his/her reading and math skils. In addition to your conversations with teachers, we will have resources on our school website if you click ‘on this ink.
