Private International Law or Conflict of Laws is an important facet of the legal systems present around the
world. The reason for this is that a number of cases have been surfacing where a foreign element or aspect is present. It
has become imperative upon the courts to consider the rules of private international law in the areas of international
trade, commerce, free movement, migration etc. As a subject, private international law aims to bridge the gap between
different legal systems by putting forth principal rules of jurisdiction, choice of law and recognition and enforcement of
foreign judgments. The object of the course is to make sure that the student is equipped with the practical and legal
knowledge of the nature and function of Conflict of Laws and thus use these principles in a professional manner.
