Trickle Treat
!
!
!
! "!
August is the big brother...
Emmett is the
little brother
! "!
August and Emmett are
excited because today is
Halloween!
! #!
BUT...
before they can TRICK or
TREAT they need to do a few
things.
! $!
They love to read books
together after school...
! %!
And then they ride horses in the
Kentucky Derby...
! &!
And they fight off any
neighborhood pirates that are
lurking about
! '!
And of course they have to
sing some silly songs!
! (!
Today for homework August
has a SPECIAL assignment! He
has to test the theory of Trickle
down economics.
! )*!
She suggests he tests his
theory tonight during trick or
treating.
! ))!
August explains the plan to his little
brother Emmett.
! )+!
Heres the plan, Emmett...
We will go to as MANY houses as possible so we
can collect as MUCH candy as possible.
+ + =
! )#!
So, the two brothers get ready.
They prepare their teeth for their
most challenging night of the
year.
! )$!
With costumes on and maps unfurled,
these brothers are ready to complete
their mission!
! )%!
They have exactly three hours:
from 5pm until 8pm. Each brother
carries four empty bags aching to
be filled with teeth-tingling treats.
! )'!
House after spooky house the boys
come away with bags and bags of
treats until
! )(!
the clock strikes eight bells...

The brothers, ready or not, must retreat
to their house to tally their riches.
As the brothers count and sort their
candies:
The chocolates.
The sweets.
The marshmallows.
The fruities.
The yuckies.
A possessiveness
possesses them!
! ++!
Hey, little brother. Maybe we shouldnt
share these candies after all. We worked hard
to get these candies. Everyone else can get
their own, right?
Emmett would have agreed verbally but his
mouth was stuffed with so many sweets that his
tongue was numb.
! +"!
And so it happened. The two brothers
who swore to share their sweets with each
other and with the un-candied children of
the world began to eat it all themselves.
That isnt to say they didnt come up with
some great uses for their candy
! +#!
They had chocolate bars so
big they made twin beds for
sweeter dreams.
! +$!
They created
their own
currency out
of specialty
chocolates
! +%!
The brothers, in their candy extravagance,
reenacted several scenes from the latest
Orange is the New Black season using a
cast of all orange circus peanuts.

This was all good and fun but the more
candy they stuffed in their stomachs the
more empty they felt inside.
! +'!
The theory to trickle down lots of treats to those who
need it just couldnt work for them.
! +(!
They needed justice.
Candy justice.
! "*!
And it was up to the brothers
and fellow citizens to make sure no
child ever got too much candy nor
too little on Halloween night - ever
again.
