A N ACT PROHIBITING DISCEIMINATrON AGAINST ANY


INDIVIDUAL IN EMPLOYMENT ON ACCOUNT O F
AGE AND PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the


Pkilippines in Congress assembled:

S E C T I O N 1 . ShortTitle. - T h i s A c t s h a l l be k n o w n as t h e
"Anti-Age D i s c r i m i n a t i o n i n Empioyxaent Act".

S E C . 2 , Declaration of Policies. - The State shall


p r o m o t e e q u a l opportunities i n e m p l o y m e n t for everyone.
T o t h i s end, i t s h a l l be t h e policy o f t h e State to:

(a) P r o m o t e e m p l o y m e n t o f i n d i v i d u a l s o n t h e b a s i s
of their abilities, knowledge, skills and quali&cations rather
t h a n t h e i r age.

(c) P r o m o t e t h e r i g h t o f a l l e m p l o y e e s a n d w o r k e r s ,
r e g ^ d i e s s o f age, t o be t r e a t e d e q u a l l y i n t e r m s o f c o m p e i ^ a t i o n ,
benefits, promotion, t r a i n i n g and other e m p l o y m e n t opportunifaes.

S E C . 3 . Definition of Terms. - A s used i n this Act:

S E C . 8 . Education and Research Programs. - The
D e p a r t m e n t of Labor and E m p l o y m e n t 03OLE) shall:

(a) C o n d u c t s t u d i e s a n d r e s e a r c h e s o n m i n i m i z i n g
i m p e d i m e n t s t o t h e e m p l o y m e n t o f older persons, a n d f u r n i s h Secretary
s u c h i n f o r m a t i o n t o e m p l o y e r s , l a b o r gi'oups, a n d t h e g e n e r a l
public; and Approved:
(b) P r o m o t e p r o g r a m s , i n c o o r d i n a t i o n w i t h p u b l i c a n d
p r i v a t e agencies, t h a t w i l l f u r t h e r enhance t h e knowledge a n d
s k i l l s o f e v e r y i n d i v i d u a l r e g a r d l e s s o f age.

S E C . 9 . Implementing Rules and Regulations. - T h e
D O L E shall have the a u t h o r i t y to investigate and require the
