    UniversityGrantsCommission(UGC)hasannouncedthatthecandidateswhocleartheNational
    EligibilityTest(NET)successfullywouldbeeligibleforlucrativejobsinthepublicsector
    undertakings(PSUs).TheNETisconductedbytheUGC)fortheresearchfellowshipsand
    appointmentofassistantprofessorsintheinstitutionsofhighereducation.

    TheUGChasdecidedtogivepermissionstoPSUssothattheymayusetheNETresultdatabase
    fortherecruitmentprocesstohirethesemaster'sdegreeholdersastheirofficers.

    Accordingtoadaily,theprovicechancellorofPatnaUniversitysaidonFridaythatnowPSUscan
    utiliseUGCNETscoresfortherecruitmentprocessofthepostsofexecutivesintheir
    organisationsindisciplineslikescience(R&D),management,corporatecommunications,human
    resources,finance,etc.ThissteptakenbytheUGCwouldalsoincreasethecrazeamongstthe
    studentsfortakingtheUGCNETexaminationandwouldeventuallyincreasethenumberof
    studentstakingupthisexaminationmanifoldsinthecountryandtheuniversitiesalsowouldget
    betterstudentsfortheirPh.Dprogrammes.

    Accordingtothesources,theUGCgaveitsfinalnodtotheproposallastweekafterithadbeen
    approvedbythechairman.Infact,theIndianOilCorporationLtd(IOCL)hasalreadyissuedan
    advertisementinvitingapplicationsfromstudentswhohavesuccessfullyclearedtheNET.Though
    theselectionofthecandidateswoulddependuponthescore,theyhaveobtainedintheNET
    examination.
