I Objectives

1 recall the use of context clues in unlocking unfamiliar words;
2 analyze the synonym and antonym of a unfamiliar word through context
clues ; and
3 express your ideas using the synonym and antonym of a unfamiliar word.

II Procedure
A Motivation
Before we start our lesson can someone share his/her assignment to the class.
Lets find out your own topic of interest and lets see if you used preposition to
and from.

Review
Do you remember the use of context clues? You will read sentences carefully.
After that you will call somebody to underline the meaning of the italicized words.
1 Lea Salonga is gifted lady. She is a talented singer.
2 A persons manner reveals his personality so you must develop good
habits.
3 Mr. Enriquez is a hardworking man. He was given the Most Industrious
Employee Award last month.
4 The boy saw an unusual animal. It was his first time to see such strange
creature.
5 Boracay Beach is renowned all over the world. it is a famous tourist spot.

Read and analyze the sentences. Find the opposite meaning of the underlined
word as used in the sentence. I will call pupils to answer each number.

Did you study/analyze how the word was used in the sentence or in context?
Did you study the words before or after the unfamiliar words?
Is there a word that signals the correct opposite meaning?

For your activity, refer to page 350, Try and Learn. Read the underlined word of
the first sentence. Encircle its antonym in the second sentence.
