PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be conducted by the City of Ashland Plan
Commission and Common Council on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the City Hall
Council Chambers (601 Main Street West). At that time, a reasonable opportunity will be afforded to all
interested parties to express their view on the proposed matter. The purpose of this notice is for the
following:

Ordinance to adopt the City of Ashland Comprehensive Plan, Authentic Ashland 2035. The
public hearing will be held to gather public comment on the draft Authentic Ashland 2035
Comprehensive Plan. The comprehensive plan is a guide for making sound decisions that align
with the communitys values and to help the community realize its vision with regards to short-
and long-range development, redevelopment and preservation of the City of Ashland as required
by Wisconsins Smart Growth Comprehensive Planning legislation in Wis Stats, 66.1001. This
plan is intended to update and replace the Citys previous comprehensive plan. Authentic
Ashland 2035 includes identification of community values and vision, planning principals,
decision making filters to be used, near term priorities and recommended actions. It also
addresses the nine elements to be included within a comprehensive plan per Wisconsins
Comprehensive Planning Law (66.1001 Wis. Stats.)

A recommended draft of Authentic Ashland 2035 and the plan adoption ordinance are available for review
at Ashland City Hall, the Vaughn Public Library (502 Main Street West), and online at www.ashland-
comprehensive-plan.org or on the City of Ashland website at www.coawi.org. All members of the
general public are encouraged to review the plan and provide comments to the Plan Commission and
Common Council. Comments may be made in person at the scheduled public hearing, or may be
submitted in writing until 4:00 p.m. February 15th, 2017, and shall become part of the public record.
