All 501c3 public charities in the US are eligible to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund. Religious
organizations, government agencies and some 501c4 organizations are also eligible to benefit
from PPGF fundraising opportunities. To find out if you are eligible, please skip ahead to page 7.
First, you should choose a primary PayPal account holder, who must be authorized to manage the
charitys PayPal account. The primary account holder should complete PayPals registration and
charity confirmation process, outlined in the steps below. Once your PayPal account is set up, you
can designate additional users1, who may each have different levels of access depending on their
role.
If you already have a PayPal account for your charity, thats great! Make sure that youve added
your bank account and that your account is set up as a nonprofit business account before moving
on to the PayPal Confirmed Charities process (page 6).
If you dont already have a PayPal account, youll need to provide the following information:
Charitys details:
Charity name
Employer Identification Number (EIN)
Address
Phone number
Email address
Website URL
Date charity was established
Charitys bank account:
Copy of a bank statement OR
Voided check from your organization
Account holders details:
Email address (this will be the primary login)
SSN
Job title
Date of birth
Home address
Your PayPal account needs to be a business account in order get confirmed as a charity account.
Be sure that your primary PayPal account holder sets this up. Funds raised through PayPal Giving
Fund will be deposited in your PayPal business account. If your charity already has a PayPal
account, make sure that its a nonprofit business account. If its not, youll need to upgrade it to a
business account. You also need to make sure that you have added your bank account to the
PayPal account. Once these steps are completed, proceed to the Confirm your accounts charity
status with PayPal section of this guide.

Charities will typically want to open a Payments Standard account. After entering your email
address, fill in all required details and indicate that youve read, consent and agree to PayPals
User Agreement and Privacy Policy. Then click Agree and Continue.
After logging into PayPal, you will be asked to provide documentation of your charitable status
and bank account information.
Youll need to submit:
Your EIN
Voided organizational check or bank statement
Your EIN will be compared to the public charity records on Guidestar. If the results dont show
your charity has 501(c)3 tax exempt status, we will ask you to provide proof of charitable status
(see screenshot below for details).
Once PayPal has validated your information, youll receive an email confirming that your
organization is a PayPal Confirmed Charity, typically within 3 working days. If you want to check
on the status of your account, please contact PayPal support.
Visit the PayPal Giving Fund website and click on the Enroll button.
Youll be asked to log in using your charitys PayPal account. Note your browser will display the
secure connection padlock symbol and the web URL will begin with https://www.paypal.com.
Complete your details and click on agree and continue. Youll go to your new dashboard with any
pending donations imported.
Are you selling on eBay as a charity direct seller with 100% of your sales benefiting your charity?
Direct selling is now handled on the eBay site. You can use this link to add your eBay ID before you
start selling: https://charity.ebay.com/charity-admin/login/ This will ensure that PayPal Giving
Fund does not collect donations from direct seller accounts.
You can easily set up your PayPal account to withdraw funds into your charitys bank account. To
do this, you must first have a bank account linked to your PayPal account. Then, from your PayPal
account homepage, click Withdraw Money, then confirm the bank account and the amount
youd like to withdraw. Click on Settlement Withdrawal if youd like to set up automatic daily
withdrawals to your bank account
Once you have completed PPGF enrollment, youre eligible to start receiving donations from
donors in any of our programs (but please note that it can take 24 hours for your charity to
display on our partner sites). To view pending and paid donations, please log into your PPGF
dashboard: www.paypal.com/givingfund with your PayPal login information. The Dashboard
shows a general overview of your paid donations, which we will deposit in your PayPal account
once a month, around the 25th of the month. This payment will include all donations we received
from your donors by the 15th of the month.
You can see new incoming (but not yet paid out) donations in the Recent Donations tab, and
individual transactions are listed in the Activities tab. If donors have chosen to share their
information with you, youll also see it in Activities.
