Topic: Dare to Dream

General objective: Students will be able to construct and expand the content of an
descriptive essay entitled If I had Three Wishes.

Specific objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1) List down main ideas for the essay.
2) Organise main ideas and supporting ideas into mind map.
3) Present and share the mind map orally.
3) Outline the essay with main ideas and supporting details.

Teaching aids: Marker Pen, Power Point slides, Worksheets, LCD and projector

Stage/Time Activity Notes

Set induction 1. Teacher shows a video to the students. Video


(2 minutes) 2. Students are asked to guess the topic of the lesson after
watching the video.

Step 1 1. Teacher introduces the writing task about If I have Three Power Point
( 16 minutes) Wishes. Slides,
2. Students are asked to think and list down their own 3 wishes in Worksheet 1,
worksheet 1 in 2 minutes. Manila Card,
3. Teacher divides students into groups with at least 3 students in Marker Pen.
each group.
4. Students in group are required to share and write one of their
wishes with reasons in mind map form by using WH-questions
as guide on the Manila Card.
5. Teachers collect the mind map done by each group and stick it
at the whiteboard.
6. One representative from in each group will share their wish by
presenting their mind map.

Step 2 1. Teacher shows the example of outlining a body paragraph by PowerPoint


( 10 minutes) using WH-questions. Slides,
2. Students are asked to outline the essay in worksheet 1 Worksheet 1
following the example given by teacher.
3. Teacher selects a few students to present their work by reading
aloud.
4. Teacher corrects major mistake of the students work if needed.

Closure 1. Teacher ends the lesson by asking students to complete their


(2 minutes) draft of the essay according to the outlines and bring it to the
next lesson.
