Matthew Ali Saniie is the child of Jafar Saniie (Qom, Iran) and Barbara Kujampa-Saniie (Erie, Pennsylvania). He was born in
NOWRUZ PROJECT
Helsinki, Finland and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After attending Northwestern University and Pursue University, Matthew joined a
OGHAB boutique engineering firm in Chicago that specialized in ultra-sound technology. In his free time after work, he began volunteering for
Senator Obama Presidential Campaign in the downtown Chicago office, which eventually turned into a leave of absence from his job
PASSING THE TORCH and a staff role in Iowa during the 2007 caucuses. Matthew went on to become a full-time staffer for Senator Obama, working in 6

states to help him win the primaries and in Florida for the General Election.

After President Obama's successful election, Matthew merged his engineering skills and campaigning skills, joining the Democratic
National Committee as the Arizona Data and Digital Director, where he was promoted to a Regional Data Service Manager in the
Washington DC office after only a year in a state role. During President Obama's re-elect in 2011, Matthew was tapped as the
Regional Data Director for the South and ended the campaign in 2012 as an Elections Analysts who advised campaign strategy for
several battleground states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Michigan.

Matthew is currently the National Director of Analytics and Data at Enroll America, a non-profit focused on helping Americans get
affordable health insurance by increasing take up around the Affordable Care Act. He lives in Washington DC and spends his free
time making artisan ice cream and running so he can eat the ice cream.
