New Student Checklist

1. Apply for Admission


Complete the online OCC admissions form. The admissions process is different for guest students.

2. Submit Your Transcripts


You need to request all official transcripts be sent through Parchment to OCC.

3. Get Help Paying for College


Its important to know how you will be paying for college. Financial help is available, but you have to start early.

Financial Aid: The first step is to fill out the FAFSA (go to https://fafsa.ed.gov/) and include OCC school
code 00230300 as soon as you are able to. Then visit Cost & Financial aid to see the rest of the steps you

Scholarships: You can apply for OCC Foundation scholarships or private scholarships. Visit scholarships

4. Create a MyOCC Account online. Obtain an OCC user ID and password

You will get an email from OCC letting you know they accepted your admission. There will be information
included on how to access your MyOCC account.

5. Take Placement Tests


OCC uses placement testing and transfer-course evaluation to determine a student's academic skill level.

New students - Most new OCC students are required to take placement tests to assess their academic skill
levels in reading, writing and mathematics for appropriate course placement. They have walk in hours available.

6. Meet With an OCC Counselor

An OCC counselor will help you maximize your college experience by working with you to create an
academic plan. If you have attended another college or university, it is a good idea to bring a copy of your
unofficial transcript from each school to this meeting.

7. Attend an Orientation
It is recommended that all new students attend a college orientation session. Based on English placement
scores, a student may be required to attend an orientation. Using your MyOCC login information, click on link to
either Desire2Learn or Online Orientation to begin.

8. Register for Classes


Register for classes online through MyOCC/Online Services .

Detailed information about how to register is available in Admissions . Your MyOCC username is set-up when you
are admitted. Your default password is the lowercase first letter of your first name, the uppercase first letter of your
last name, and your 6-digit birth date (mmddyy).

9. Pay Your Bill


You must pay for your classes in full or have a college-approved financial arrangement in place by the
designated payment due date noted in the Schedule of Classes. Students who do not meet the payment due
date are subject to being deleted from their course registration. Make sure you have designated OCC as your
college of enrollment for TIP money (For those who qualify). Review financial aid letter and accept ALL grant
money online through your MyOCC account (Free money that you do not have to pay back). Decide if you need
loans and accept ONLY what you need. (Must be paid back with interest).

You can pay your bill online or at your campus business office.

10. Get Your Raider One Card


Student services (such as checking out materials in the libraries, printing and copying, and iROC Cash purchases in
the Raiders Stores or Cafs) require an OCC Student ID Card. After registering for credit classes, go to any
Raiders Store to have your photo taken for your new ID card.

Be sure to have with you a valid photo ID, such as a passport, driver's license, military identification, alien
registration receipt card (with photograph) or photo ID card issued by a state or government agency.

11. Buy Your Books


Go to your campus Raiders bookstore or order online to purchase books. Remember to have your class
schedule in order to purchase the correct books!

12. Go to Class!
You are expected to attend all classes in which you are enrolled. If you don't attend or stop attending and fail to drop
the class before its refund deadline, you will be responsible for all tuition and fees.
Not making SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS can result in you losing financial aid.
Check MyOCC/Online Services to manage your course enrollment.
