Purpose
The aim of this report is to assess the results of a survey carried out
to determine how much fashion affects the young adults life. The
data included in this report was gathered by means of a
questionnaire. 10 people from Argentina, men and women, aged 18
23, were asked five specific questions on the subject.

Shopping frequency
Fifty per cent of the respondents surveyed reported that they go
shopping once a week. Of these, eighty per cent were women. Men
expressed that they loathe both queueing up and spending hours at a
shopping mall. The answers of the other fifty per cent of the people
surveyed varied: sixty per cent answered that they go shopping once
a fortnight whereas the remaining forty per cent expressed that they
go shopping just once a month. This suggests that people tend to go
shopping frequently, especially women.

Fashion trends
A large proportion of the people questioned stated that they only
follow fashion trends if they like them. Just one out of five affirmed
that they do not follow fashion trends. This indicates that, although
people are aware of fashion trends, they are not easily persuaded by
them.

Brand-name clothing
Of the 10 young adults surveyed, sixty per cent agreed that they buy
clothes at any store, without paying attention to whether it is a brand
store or not. On the other hand, thirty per cent (all of them men)
stated that they only buy at brand stores. Most of them claimed that
they do not take into account quality but the popularity arisen from
wearing brand-name clothing.

Time spent on dressing up

A significant percentege of those women who responded reported
that they plan what they are going to wear for a special occasion with
two weeks or more of anticipation. In general, men affirmed that they
tend to choose their outfit the previous night. This implies that women
are more interested in their appearance and that clothing contributes
to making them feel confident.

Money
Over eighty per cent of those who answered the questionnaire replied
that they spend less than the half of their salary on clothing.
Furthermore, they expressed that even though they are fond of
fashion, they prefer to save up. The other twenty pe cent-composed
of men- claimed that they spend more than the half of their salary on
clothing.

Conclusion
On the basis of the points mentioned above, it would seem that
despite the fact that fashion plays an important part in the everyday
life of the young adult, it does not dominate them. Moreover, the
results of this survey demonstrate that nowadays men are as fond of
fashion as women are.
