This experiment involves the extraction of Zingiber officinale (Ginger) and the testing
and effectiveness of its anti bacterial anti oxidant potential specifically against pest and
insects.
Ginger vegetables were collected from Pasig, Public Wet Market. The collected
samples were rinse thoroughly in running water and extraneous materials were
removed. Then the samples were chopped small to blend it smoothly. Using blender, the
samples were blended to get the juice/extracts.
Extraction
The blended Ginger samples were slowly and smoothly kept in a cool temperature
to keep its freshness and prevent extraneous and harmful organisms to infiltrate with it.
We will use our spray bottle to store Ginger Extract. The researchers will spray the
Ginger extracts (natural pesticides) on the plants. There will be 7 days of treatments for
the plants.
Effectiveness Testing
Test the treatment days if the Ginger extracts (natural pesticides) can kill and
prevent the pests and can restore the plants healthy condition. This process will know
how effective Ginger extract (natural pesticides) are to Plants.
Observation
There will be 7 days of observation. Observe if there are changes in the plants.
Observe the chemical pesticides (malathion) in other plants using the steps too.
The results are ready to be gathered using our observational test. The
improvements of the plants will be recorded in 7 days. The results will then be used to
determine the effect of Ginger Extract (natural pesticides) to the harmful pests in the
plants.
