HUNGDUAN, Ifugao - Five schools in the province are vying for the 2017 search for
Outstanding Nutrition Friendly School (BNFS).
The search for BNFS is one of the local initiatives of the provincial government to
ensure safe, nutritious snacks to pupils. It advocates for nutritious foods and promotes
the choice of selecting native delicacies with high nutritive value as against junk foods.
It is also intended to promote an environment providing information and education to
pupils and guiding them to maintain an ideal weight.
Corazon Dawong, nutrition program coordinator, said these schools are Bliss El-
ementary School (ES) in Lamut; Balangbang ES in Mayoyao; Awayan ES in Aguinaldo;
Umalbong ES in Hingyon and Hapao ES in Hungduan.

sent out to conduct a security operation. On February 8, 2017 at around 6:20pm, an engagement tran-
spired between the Army troops and the NPAs. The encounter lasted for about thirty (30) minutes, dur-
ing which a soldier was killed and five NPA members were reported wounded.
Indeed, the NPA missed the golden opportunity to promote peace for the people and instead, chose
to go back to their terroristic ways.
In response to the incident, Major General Paul T Atal, AFP, 5ID Commander reassured soldiers and
their families that their welfare was being prioritized. And that the 5ID is committed to continue doing
its noble duty of protecting the community and people from the terror acts by the NPA despite this
tragic loss.
