COMPETITION MANUAL
1. Selection of Judges
1.1. Preliminary round
1.1.1. Four judges, consisting of three teachers and one lecturer from Institut Perguruan Islam

Bangi as the chief judge.


1.1.2. A balance among representatives from different subjects including English, Maths and

Science were considered in selecting the judges.


1.2. Final Round
1.2.1. All five judges will be from Institut Perguruan Islam Bangi.
1.2.2. An odd number of judges are participating in case of a tie break situation.

2. Selection of Contestants
2.1. No more than three presenters should be in each group.
2.2. Prior to the competition, contestants have already sent their abstracts to the host.

3. Judging of Presentations and Selection of Winners


3.1. Judges must use the official JEIL score form in evaluating contestants presentations and

must adhere to the voting procedures:


3.1.1.Following each presentation, each judge must score each group on the score form,

retaining copies of all sheets until the session is complete.


3.1.2.The judges total scores for each group are recorded by the moderator in the moderating

room.
3.1.3.The winners are determined by the moderator who calculates an average of the ranking

of the group.
3.1.4. For preliminary round, the top two scorers from each category will proceed to the final

round.
3.1.5. Only six groups will be competing in the final round.

4. Judging Criteria
4.1. Time
Each group will be given 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q & A.
4.2. For preliminary round, presentations will be judged according to
4.2.1.presence
4.2.2.language skills
4.2.3.mastery of subjects
4.2.4.organization
4.2.5.visual aids
4.2.6.audience adaptations

4.3. The final round will look at:


4.3.1.organization and style
4.3.2.knowledge and understanding
4.3.3.mechanics
4.3.4.communication
4.3.5.creativity and innovation
