ACTION PLAN

To contribute to the goal of preparing reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an Action Plan at the end of first, second, and third field
experience with input from their cooperating teacher and/or the University supervisor. The Action Plan synthesizes each field experiences
evaluation, links each field experience to the next, establishes goals for improvement, and forms an agenda for discussion between the student
teacher, the cooperating teacher and University supervisor at the beginning of the subsequent field experience. For First Field Experience only
(excluding Physical Education students), the Action Plan will be completed during the co-requisite Professional Seminar course.

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed
during this field experience:
I do not believe my development is thorough or advanced in any of the Professional Competencies.
However, I believe I have shown acceptable development in Competencies 1 and 9. In Professional
Competency 1, I gained an understanding on the culture and community of the school as well as
the history and English curriculum. In Professional Competency 9, I had a chance to create an
activity that contributed to student learning and observed extra-curricular school activities.

I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field
experience:
I would like to improve my oral skills in Professional Competency 2. In addition, I would like the
opportunity to work with students and help improve their written and oral skills.
Furthermore, I did not have the chance to teach in front of a class. Therefore, to develop
Professional Competency 11, I need more experience in order to properly reflect on aspects of my
teaching.
Since I did not personally encounter or have to deal with any ethical issues, I believe I need more
experience in order to develop Professional Competency 12.

I will make use of the following strategies for improvement:


As I need to develop my oral skills, I need to practice public speaking. In the next field experience,
which is longer and does involve teaching in front of a class, my skill will improve. Moreover, I will
gain more experience that will help reflect on aspects of my teaching. I will make use of various
resources and other teacher's experiences, such as those discussed in Professional Seminar
course, to help me understand how to act when I encounter an ethical or health issue.
