Democratic over permissive/autocratic teaching.

Define autocratic teaching

- Teacher: retains much of the power and decision-making authority in the classroom. E.g.
teacher provides information for the students to use in their educational process. Teacher
does not consult with students/ allow them to provide input, opinions, desires, needs
concerning their educational experience.
- Teacher: relates information to students who are expected to absorb it as best they can.

Best example of autocratic teaching is, I told you to do it now, you will do it now.

Define permissive teaching

- Teacher: places few if any limits on students behavior, nor do they invoke logical
consequences when misbehavior disrupts the class.
- Teacher: acts as lenient.
- Teacher: do not keep themselves as very much involved in teaching and learning process.
- Teacher: place very few demands from students and do not care much of what and how
students are doing. Just teach in their own style and do not find whether students had
learned or not.

Best example of permissive teaching is, Well, whatever you want to do is alright, I guess. I
know youll do the right thing wont you?
