Cisco IP communicator Black Screen
=============================
ReInstall the CIPC
Problematic User:
CreateFile || \\contoso.com\DfsRoot\Users$ || NAME NOT FOUND || Dispositio
n: Open
Working User:
CreateFile || \\contoso.com\DfsRoot\Users$ || SUCCESS || Disposition: Open
QueryDirectory || \\contoso.com\DfsRoot\Users$\username || SUCCESS
From this I gathered that the issue was being caused because communicator couldn
't open the user share in order to check for the existence of the user's profile
folder. I suspect that it was then failing to append the path for the user's r
oaming app data to the root file path above.
Resolution:
Granted Creator Owner full access to subfolder and files at the root of the prof
ile share.
Granted Everyone Read access to the root of the profile share (but not to subfol
ders).

ONE WAY AUDIO

================
1.Call manager registers your local LAN Ip address instead of IP address of VPN
adapter.
Make sure under IPC, Preferences->Audio->Network->Audio IP Address
*Detect Automatically has selected, if not make sure, audio IP address has VPN a
dapter selected.
Check also Firewall is not in the PATH

CISCO IP COMMUNICATOR:
========================
1)No sound output with IP Communicator
Make sure that your speaker and microphone plugs are inserted into the correct a
udio jacks on your computer.
Check the volume and mute settings of the system sound devices through the Contr
ol Panel.
Check the volume setting of IP Communicator
Are you connecting over VPN ? If yes, ensure you are selecting the interface whi
ch you get after connecting over VPN & not the default NIC. This is usually the
main cause of one-way audio. Also, ensure CIPC installation on Win 7 is supporte
d, mostly it is but double chk to be sure.
Finally figured it out! Under preferences > audio tab > network button > Audio
IP Address.... I had to select "Detect Automatically"
It had been set to the default, I assume (which was the VPN client)

Cisco IP Communicator - No Devices Detected

=====================================
"Thanks for your posts. This may be a little late but I have found that for Wind
ows 7, 64-bit, you need to run IPC in compatibility mode. It works fine if you c
hoose Vista SP2. Also, for any of the Cisco products that require Java, make sur
e you have the 32-bit version of Java installed on your 64-bit OS. The 64-bit Ja
va API's do not behave properly."

Microphone doesnt work on IP Communicator

=======================================
I had the same issue with Win7 and IP comminucator 7.5. I was able to fix the is
sue. I went into the registries (by running regedit) and found and deleted the C
isco IP Communicator folder. Then, I ran the Audio Tuning again with the Plantro
nics headset plugged in to the computer. When completed, I was able to place and
receive calls without any issues.
for the benefit of those looking, the specific folder (that I think) Bob is refe
rring to can be found inside the HKCU registry hive, under Software/Cisco System
s, Inc/Communicator. (Windows 7)
By all means please make a full backup of your registry before attempting this h
ack, as an "oops" here can very easily brick your laptop
CIPC doesnt startup properly

***Verify that the device name in Cisco IP Communicator (right-click > Preferenc
es > Network tab)
is correct and matches the device name specified in Cisco Unified Communications
Manager.

If your CM is on a different vlan than your pc, make sure the device that is se
t up as the default gateway on the pc is able to route to the CM. Try to ping fr
om the def gw to the CM and then from the def gw to the pc. It sounds like a sim
ple routing or vlan issue.
