The capital punishment, a god solution?

The problematic of capital punishment is a very

complicated and sensible one, given the fact that life and the
right to determine, control and take life from another life form,
human being is particular, is generally forbidden or regarded as
a crime.
The idea of capital punishment can be discussed from many
point of view, such as religious or traditional view, political
view, economic view, moral view, social view, psychological
view, educational view and also it may be analyzed from a
subjective point of view or a objective one. Starting from the
objective point of view, the fact of taking a life, naturally seems
at least a mistake or an anti life act and definitely an antisocial
one. Paradoxically, in countries where capital punishment is
used, it is regarded as a pro social measure. Probably as a
deterrent for potential criminals. But this point of view has it`s
flaws, one being the probability that the capital punishment is
given only to those criminals who had committed atrocities,
there for they are very big chances that they are in a state of
mind from where they are not scared or intimidated of this
punishment, or why not, they might be regard it as a form of
achievement or freedom. From the logical point of view, this
punishment is not sure a punishment given the fact that no one
knows what is after life, so logically, you can not assume that
something is coercive before you know what really is, and we
sure not know what death is. Thereby, the idea of using the
capital punishment as a deterrent is not likely the best solution.
Of course, it is very well known the religious point of view
for this matter. In majority of world`s religions, the fact of
taking a life for another life or using it as a form of punishment
is a banned one. In Christianity, there is actually a law that
strictly forbids the act of killing, in the Ten commandments. Of
course, this advice alone can not have a strong effect upon
anyone probably, simply because this commandment it is
believed that was given by God, and we don`t know what or
who is it, so there are very weak chances of anyone being
scared of a thing that someone you don`t know that exist or
what is it. Although there can be an reverse effect of this
command, starting from the logic that one is likely to be more
attracted to do something that is forbidden for the simple fact
of knowing what it is.
In other religions, the oriental one especially, the fact of taking
any form of life is regarded as a crime, and the concept of using
the capital punishment as a form of correcting someone is
inexistent.
The idea that if a person takes somebody`s life, then that
person should consequently lose his life is saying in other
words if you take what is mine, I take what is yours. Some
kind of equilibrium restauration. This idea seems very
immature, because is based on the logic eye for an eye.
Mahatma Gandhi put this absurd idea in some very wise words
saying Eye for an eye and the whole world will be blind.
The response of violence to violence, killing for killing is no
more than a perpetuation of this attitudes.
From the social point of view, this measure can lead to creating
the subconscious idea that if there is someone that can take
life, and still being legally accepted, then the importance of life
may seem diminished and if someone can use it why not others
can used it also for a form of coercive measure.
Also from the educational point of view, this measure is a
destructive one, because it creates the attitude of arrogance
simple by the fact that it is legally accepted that the taking of a
life is a solution.
There may be some economic ideas that the capital
punishment is effective because it empties out the prisons, and
the society should not pay for the care of a criminal. But the
implications that imply are much more destructive for the
society in general than the amount of money that prisons gain
for the death of a prisoner.
As a personal conclusion, I might say that from any
point of view, the capital punishment is a poor solution, an anti
life one and the expectation for using it are purely based on an
error of logic and a missed interpretation of religious concepts.
Because how can we take life= something that we don`t even
know what is, where it goes, what is after it and we don`t
possess it, (we are it) and still think that we are doing some
kind of equilibrium act?
