WhyAlcatelLucentuseServiceRoutertermfortheirservicerouters?Thisisbecause,differentservicesto
customersaregivenontheserouters.

Services that are given with Service Routers can be divided to two group. One is providing internet
connectiontocustomer.TheothergroupprovideL2/L3VPNservicestocustomers.

Theinternet connection is provided with IES(Internet Enhanced Service) throught service routers. The
VPNconnectionisprovidedunderthreeservice.Theseservicesare VPWS(VirtualPrivateWireService),
VPLS(VirtualPrivateLANService)andVPRN(VirtualPrivateRoutedNetwork).VPWSandVPLSare
L2VPNservice.VPRNisLayer3VPNservice.

TosumuptheservicesgivenunderAlcatleLucentservicerouters,letschecktheseservicesorderly.
